  1. P. S.

otterhere. I don't feel offended at all bywhat you said. If not for those issues last week and what looked like was about to happen my posts would be much less. As for social life there is not one right now. I hope it comes back. Family is great. They have their hand full I'll tell ya. Thanks for what you said. And unfortunately it is all true. Perhaps I could play Rear Window for a while because I swear this woman across the street has 5 to 6 different men a day come to her home that I did not know before I had to stop working. I don't want Stewart's binoculars though. EW!

  2. Well I am aware of the purpose of the boards. I would not have the near numerous postings I have if it had not been for last week. When I first came here I did as everyone does. Then I got the PM's and then three people who are now banned followed me whereever I went and posted things such as offering erotic massages to my crippled legs.

The mistake I made was in making the profile I made which for some reason when I was joining was something I thought all did. And thus began the fireworks. So I did not come here looking for a social network. But after a few days it seemed some have it and I thought maybe that will be a nice little byproduct for me. I felt the complete opposite happening. But if you notice I still make my trivia challenges and in the last two days woke up and had more hate mail. It does not stop and I donot want to be a quitter.

So I tried to shed some light that is all. I wish this had never happened. None of it But to say I was gay, not ashamed, but never should have.

I do think you can be acquaintances on here. Such as know there are people praying for me and I am most grateful. I wish you all the best. See ya around the boards I hope. I won't give up.

My life story actually begings way back in .......kidding. LOL. Peace. Out.

  3. I love doing this and love reading your answers in those other posts.

Today's theme is the word Short, which does not mean it is in every answer. See how many you can get correct. Make attempts have fun, stretch the brain but only a short distance. LOL

    1) Was a supporting role but won for best actor and was on screen for 21 minutes only. Who is he?

    2) Who gave shortest Oscar acceptance speech in acting category. Only five words.

    3) Not Judi Dench, but who gave the shortest time on screen and walked away with Oscar?

    4) After so many years of not having African Amercan's win, we finally had two win back to back. Not speaking of Washington and Berry in the same years.

    5) What film won best pic for only being 91 minutes...the shortest film to win best pic.

    6) what presenter is short in height and name and presented short subjects awards?

    7) who, not Tatum O'Neal or a child, but which adult is shortest to win Oscar?

    8) Not a long wait, a short one at that, to make a movie and win with film debut. At least ten have done this. How many can you name?

    9) A short time in terms of years to be nominated for best director. Only 23 years after birth andthe average median is 54. Who is he. He did not win however.

    10) Short time between nominatoins. 18 people have won back to back nominations. Amazing that many. How many can you name?

    11) Short trip to video and cable. What was first film to be released and then went to video and cable even before nominations came out?

    12) Such a short trip when you don't leave your seat. What two films had 11 nominations and no wins.

    13) Can you name the youngest (as in shortest of days since birth) to win Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress?

    14) What is last Best Picture to win at 101 minutes. That's short for these days. A film that is not really a classic yet, but will be as is shown on some classic channels. Time will tell.

    Finally,

    15) What film is the film with the shortest list in which all who appeared onscreen were nominated. The entire cast. How many and what film?

Good luck. Peace, Robert Michael....I enjoyed making this.

  4. I put this under hot topics after starting to use general discussion but since it is 31 Days of Oscar I put them here.

Here are some Oscar book reading I love and would like to know yours as well as any books you would recommnd on classic films and actors/actresses.

    Oscar Fever....very good, the best

Alternaitive Oscar by Danny Peary....he gives who he thought should have won with great thoughts

The Secret History of the Academy Awards.(didn't know there wre secrets, oh my) LOL

    Inside Oscar

Those are my favorites to recommend.

I recently was given a book called Oscar Season which is a work of fiction that take place during Oscar season of course and is a murder mystery with hollywood and the Oscars as the backdrop. Very good reading.

And I love the book called Conversations with Brando by Lawrence Grobel.

Share some of yours if you will.

  5. The Song of Bernadette. That film affeced me so much. I remember watching that with my mother which led to an entire discussion on miracles as I did not understand them. It led to my Catholicism which I have since left. I miss the sacrment of the Eucharist but they can keep they hypocrisy. Being Christian is enough. This movie as you can see affected me greatly.

Now I am embarrassed to admit, I don't know of others of hers and want to do this without googling her name. I know she is one of the few to win an Oscar, if I am correct for her debut.

Now: (oh thanks for the memories of Doris Day, and by the way, one of her's I love that many forget is Glass Bottom Boat). Let's see what one can come up with David Nivens. what a unique man.

    David Nivens.

  6. I'm not looking for a conversation. I just came to post and learn from others. That is all. I don't want conversation unless stimulating and on thoughts of film. But I do not want all the PM's that I did not ask for of people telling me to die because I am a ****, or I can't be gay and Christian. And I post too much. This is why I started defending myself. I never expected this. I just want people to respond to posts I make if they are interested and that is all. Does that makes sense to you?

I try very hard to make good posts and make them interesting in a unique way and I respond to many others. I am trying to be a good member. None of this would have happened has I not made a profile. That started it all. I thought with my naivite (sic, my spelling is so bad) that all made profiles.

I admit and I hate this I hoped to make friends here. I really did. I am upset with myself right now because I wonder once again if I should quit but I just am not a quitter. I admit I wanted to make friends as I am so lonely. I am housebound and I need friends. It is hard for those I have know for years with whom I attended The Red Sox with season tickets, etc. to visit me because I can't speak, and they have a lot of difficulty understanding me and seeing what I have become. I am very lonely. I am sorry for that. As if it is my fault. Can't some of you just try kindness. Many have. I am sorry if I implied some have not. I wish I never created that profile. I thought the whole point of it was to do that so as to create friends and share some bonds.

I'm not giving up yet. But you will have few days of joy without me as on Thursday I get a shunt in my head, so I wil be in hospital for a couple of days enjoy it.

And I never expected everyone to repsond to all my posts.

But I never expected the hate. Being told I should die because I am a ****. Well that person is banned. That was just the beginning. The mistake I made was in posting on the forum asking if others had this experience.

If you like me, respond, if you don't like me, then leave me alone. I don't mean the person who just wrote.

I wrote today to try to shed light on why I write so much. I don't know what I am looking at for a future of if I even have one. Thus I tried to explain. Some of you will be in a simliar situation someday. Many of the sick get abadonded though those who do so do not mean harm. I still call them friends. I hope some of us can be. Please. I need some.

  7. I don't want to say anything that can be a spoiler. I would love to know what others thought.

Especially of Day Lewis who turns in one of the greatest performances in cinematic history. I have been hearing this from others as well.

PM me if you'd like to discuss or post here what you can without a spoiler.

I know there is one scene in particular that can't be discussed here and I am dying to know what others thought of it. Write me if you want.

25 years from now it will be on AFI's list if not before then and our grandchildren will be watching it over and over on TCM. Mesmerizing and held my attention every second in spite of a running time of 2:40. Astonishing. Unlike anything I have ever seen. An epic without a huge cast and huge scenes that most epics depict.

  8. I hate to write as if defending myself and don't meant too. I want to share a piece of info that may shed some light.

I am like a sponge this days soaking up everything I can as fast as I can which I have found out is a natural response to what happened to my health. It at first is an unconscious behavior. I was made aware of it in rehab.

Thus I post a lot. I go to bed at night sometimes having to speak to myself that it is ok and I will wake up. I know this is not a place to discuss our lives, but after what I went through last week, I felt I will never have the judgment ceased if I don't speak up. One thing I did not tell about the aneruysm is I was in a coma for quite some time. Thus my desire to soak up all I can as much as I can. And I find it hard to slow down. I have asked for your patience. Many give it.

I wanted to watch Rebecca last night but could not. I wanted nothing to do with TCM.

Where are the rules about being a good member here.

I ususally sign off by wishing peace or some type of good will.

I looked at other members here and see some have over 700 posts and 400 threads.

I have done a lot in a short time. But I honestly do not know how long I have for complications.

If you do not want to read what I write or respond, then leave me alone.

I am confused because the messages I get tell me that now I am governor of the boards and have ruined it for others because I post to much. Then I have others tell me to keep the trivia coming.

I don't know what to do. I am not a quiter. But when I start losing my love of classic films beccause all I can think of is the nasty messages, it hurts badly. I looked at my books this morning in trying to look for a correction. I felt no joy.

I hope I find it again.

When you walk into a bookstore, you will see shelves of authors such as Shakespeare and other shelves with someone like Kaye Gibbons who had penned nine novels. Is there not room for both. Did Shakespeare write too much.

Writing is my only form of communication as I can not speak now. I may never again.

So can you stop and allow me to be me.

Just do not reply to my postings. If you wrote something I am not intereseted in, I would never go in and call you out for becomming a self appointed mayor of the boards. That is bull.

I have been told I can pos as much as I want. I think I am doing a pretty good job as there are many responses in my threads. Not all. Some are better than others. And some get lost.

But let me enjoy this please.

I have made a few friends here, but more enemies and that is new for me. All becasue I post too much. Until I see rules or the admin tells me to stop, I plan on asking and posting because I have great enthusiams for film. I will say this however, I would never have joined if I felt the group was so tight and not accepting of newcomers. Only a few seem to have done that. I find that not a good characateristic of the board as a whole. My hope is that in time the good will outweigh the bad. And I hope I make new friends.

I don't want to hurt the boards and the more I reflected, I have not. My questions are as valid as anyone else's. I would have hurt the boards if I had broken rules. I have not.

I love film. I love asking and wanted to ask today what movies could you not wait to tell others to hurry and rush to see them. I am a film junkie. I won't apologize for it.

Thanks for the support and please I hope that I shed some light on why I do so much so fast. I really live with a horrific fear. I do not believe time is on my side. Let me enoy this.

    Thanks and peace,

    Robert Micheal

  9. well well well, 6 and 10 need some work.

Number 8 is correct but let me add this Fonda was nominated in 40 and won in 81. The years you have may be the years in which the awards were held, as he won in March of 82 but for the best actor of 81. However, congrats to you, because you have done something incredible and I don't understand this. I have three trivia books that have Jack Palance as the person with the record, naming the years 52 and 91. They are wrong. You have corrected the books. I will hold a press conference this afternoon. These are up to date books too. They all missed it. Good going for you. I learned something new. Thanks. If Christie wins this year she will then hold that title. 42 years since Darling and her win.

  10. I don't know how long you have done this Celluloidkid but I appreciate it. I have noticed in my short time here you giving us the obits, if I may call it that. And I hate to say it, but as much as I pay attention to papers, unless you have a death like Anna Nicole Smith or Heath Ledger you don't make the front page. So, your efforts are appreciated and I hope you continue this aspec of posting that you have taken up. For me it allows a deep appreciation of some of whom I have not thought of in a long time and their gifted contributions.
