  1. Hi casablancalover, My leanings regarding public policy are towards balance, pragmatism and realism. These are the considerations that guide me when I do call for some kind of govt, action., especially when I feel that the private sector is stalled and needs prodding. On the "1929" thread, we are concerned about our antique film heritage being "lost", "missing", deteriorating or stuck in a limbo of inertia and indifference. We are also concerned about films that need expensive restoration. What I am calling for is not at all unprecedented; the govt, as led by both parties, has often used legislation and tax code changes to encourage and discourage all kinds of private sector behavior. It is surprisingly a bipartisan phenomenon. Asking Congress to make some of the changes I have suggested, as it relates to old films, can be supported by both Democrats and Republicans. Our 1929 thread, and the films it commemorates, should appeal to both conservatives and liberals alike! Thank you for your support! We will need every person to make their voice known. Stay tuned; you have not heard the last of me on this subject. Thelma
