42 films are 42 films. all in one package. The "studio editions" are very piece meal. (And come to a higher price per film!) Also, when are the studios going to release them all? It is not "bootleg" to work from your own originals on material that is in the public domain. (The new copy can be copyrighted). Anyway, why should any true Chan Fan care? It's the Classic Theater's worry if they are infringing someone's copyright. They have a website, a street address and phone, let the cops go break their door down. The "That's Entertainment" film series was introduced at a time when there was a resurgence of nostalgia for the past. They also first appeared right before the advent of home video. Thus the series was a good reminder and collection of past films. Today we have the luxury of watching many, if not most of the original source films in their entirety, either on video or cable. They ARE a good collection, and may whet someone's appetite for watching the original titles! Today, what we need more than a "That's Entertainment IV or V", is for more of the source films to be released on video or TV! Thelma

Silent movies often had scores composed for them by the studio. Not only were scores written, but even pop tunes were introduced via live theater performance and spun off through sheet music, recording and piano roll sales! There is evidence for this presented on another thread- "Seeking Copy of Hollywood Revue of 1929" Before we have modern composers composing tracks for these silents, some research has to be done. If original musical scores can be found, they should be used out of respect for historical accuracy and authenticity. Thelma
