Cinemaven: I definitely understand the empathy angle. As I posted previously, it is as though we are walking behind J. Stewart. Hitchcock takes ordinary men, women, or both and puts them in extraodinary circumstances. Psycho - office worker stealing money Birds - smug woman delivering lovebirds Shadow of a Doubt - dangerous "uncle" disrupting typical family dynamic Man Who Knew Too Much - doctor and family on vacation Etc.etc..... We can walk in their shoes for a while UNTIL....something unexpected happens and then it becomes more unrealistic for us and we feel satisfied that "this would never happen to us." Is this when we become "voyeuristic". -
(I got lost with Carmen Miranda. Sorry, folks!) Moving on: Jean Harlow in "Riff Raff" with: UNA MERKEL

I remember so well, first because I really liked it, but, also, because I was concerned with the pairing of C.Boyer and J.Arthur. They were great together! Okay. Here goes: Clue #1 - Wife and retired huband are becoming estranged.

Mongo....I love, love the photo of Elsa Lanchester. The red hair and the beautiful eyes. I have only seen a couple of movies of hers when she was a young woman. One in particular, "Rembrandt", in which I thought she was very pretty. Again, great pix!!
-
PB....I like the Open All Night promo too. It has a "classic" feel to it. I like the new "Word of Mouth" promo EXCEPT for the "damn good actress". I am not a prude and it worked before, but if a promo is being changed, change the whole thing. Speaking of the new and getting rid of the old, Rose McGowan, please go home!! (Sorry, Rose fans)

Thanks, Blue Moon... I certainly agree with your reply regarding the actors I posted. (I realized I spelled Harry Carey w/o the "e". Maybe that's because my maiden name is Cary w/o the "e" and....I had a cousin named Harry Cary.
