  1. This is a hard one! "Fargo" THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL or THE RED SHOES
  2. Cine.....One of the first things I thought about when I got up this am was I made a big mistake. I didn't weigh in on "Vertigo". I posted on the voyeurism of "Rear Window". So sorry! That said, I think your observations are interesting and provocative. I especially like the "we watching Scotty watching Judy". Scotty's job of "following" became "stalking", in my opinion. He becomes a "hero", saving her life, which feeds his ego, which he needs because he feels weak suffering from vertigo. Obsession fills a need. The audience becomes fascinated by the transformation of Judy into Madeline. When she emerges through the door in a foggy image, she takes on an etheral quality. (ghost of Madeline?) It is almost as though we are walking behind Scotty in each scene.

  14. WELCOME, BACK CHIO! The first reaction I had to this question was, SILENT movies. The visiuals were extreme in every action or reaction. While the actors are mouthing a dialogue, we are given brief information in regard to what conversation transpired. The expressions and gestures helped us to capture the emotion of the scene. (visual over dialogue) However, I think inflection adds to the drama of the dialogue. When we e-mail, we use different methods to "inflect" our sentences because we cannot hear the words being spoken. In the quote from Lisa in which she says she isn't/is coming back, we need to see her sweep out and then hesitate slightly Lisa is the epitome of sophistication and she is used to monitoring her tone as part of her lifestyle. Even when she becomes excited, her tone of voice is smooth but she becomes more animated. (visual over dialogue) Message was edited by: Bargar Message was edited by: Bargar
