  10. Thanks, Izzie....You certainly aren't "mis-remembering, I AM!!! They are somewhat similar. However, I am partial to Dame Whitty, so maybe I was wishing it was her!! Thanks for the heads up. We all need a little help from our friends!!
  11. KYLE..... NO!! You need not say more! I am with YOU 100%!!!!!
  12. Mongo...The last image I have in MY mind is Dame Whitty sitting on the steps feeding the birds in "Mary Poppins". When I was young, I thought her full name was DAME MAY WHITTY.
  13. Say it isn't so! Paul Newman is my favorite actor! I had read about his cancelling the director job and had a feeling he was ill. At his age, we realize his vulnerability. Everyone on this thread has said everything I am thinking. Talented actor, unselfish humanitarian, devoted family man, humble, daring, intelligent. What a incredible legacy he is leaving the world. I am on the verge of tears. Some public figures effect us this way. My prayers and heartfelt thoughts go out to his loved ones. I LOVE YOU, MR. NEWMAN.
  14. Wwjcd....I like your user name. As he said, he would show up, plant his feet, look the other actor in the eye, and do his job. The cruise movie that stands out for me is "Love Affair" and the second version, "An Affair to Remember". Charles Boyer/Irene Dunne #1 and Cary Grant/Deb.Kerr #2. Message was edited by: Bargar
  15. I am "on the fence". It depends on the part he plays. In later years, he did do some respectable work in drama, mostly on tv. He tends to overact and "mugs" for the camera, but I do have repect for his talent at times. Congrats on his longevity!!
  16. MM'57...Those scenes are great! The other scene I liked was the scene between Loy & March when they tried to overcome the awkwardness of being alone in the bedroom for the first time in a long while. March obviously spruced himself up, realizing he hadn't presented a very pretty picture the night he came home. I admire and respect these two actors so...much!!
  17. I respect your choice! YES, I saw that episode with J.C. on A. Hitchcock tv.show. Even his finger did a good job of acting!! I like Dana in "Best Years of Our Lives", "Laura", "While the City Sleeps", & "Where the Sidewalk Ends". In fact, I liked everything he did! Even "Curse of the Demon". Message was edited by: Bargar
  18. Weebs! Speaking as your Mom...I like your choices!! I, personally think you are a combination of both with a fantasy of being Steve McQueen/"Bullet" thrown in. "YA THINK"?!
  19. alix...I was going to post that question about Kenike and Zucco(any takers?)but I was afraid we would get some!!!
  20. HHH...These are two of my favorites. How can I choose? I would have to say, Joseph Cotten, but only by a very small margin. I like the way he moves. He has a gracefulness that very few actors have. His voice and manner are very "southern gentlemanly". I appreciate his versatility - romantic leading man(Love Letters) charming villain(Shadow of a Doubt), comic subtleby(Farmer's Daughter). (I love Dana, too
  21. HHH...This movie is outstanding! I agree with every one who has replied so far! The stories were diverse, managing to bring out the effects of "coming home" on the lives of these three very different men and yet they shared the commaraderie of serving in the military.
  22. Irishqueen...We have two things in common. That is, if your name indicates you are Irish...Me too! Second..I wondered if anyone would bring up Bill M. as a co-host. Thanks for doing that, because I was about to. If TCM thinks that his appearance is a way of reaching today's "hip" demographic, FORGET IT!! There HAS to be so many more "names" to choose from! We might be in the minority, Irish..., but, I will be pushing MUTE during the discussion.
