It isn't a fictional location.
It was the summer home of Kublai Khan's(1215-1294), the leader of the Mongol
Empire.
It was known as Xanadu, Shangdu,Zanadue, or Shang-tu. Marco Polo visited
Kublai Khan there.
Hope that helps.

That's right! Claude Rains but Ella Raines.

Got it! Sometimes humor gets lost. Normally, I have a wry sense of humor and
should have picked up on that. Thanks, Fred!! And don't cry. Warning!! I am pretty
good at partial pictures. Ooooo. Not a challenge, just a fact.
So....I am going to stay and play.

Okay, onward and upward.......
To Metz...CLAUDE RAINES

The consummate actor. I am a big fan of his movies, including his stint as
Hercule Poirot. I also think he liked playing to the camera or "mugging" as
they used to say. Charles Laughton was another actor who had fun with
the camera. Another reason to be thankful for TCM and DVDs.

X - XANADU - (1980)
If other posters don't mind repeating, it's ok with me.

CLAUDE RAINES - If you ignore me this time, I will pick up my toys and not play this
game anymore!!
-
Hey guys. Read my answer - I said JANE WYMAN. Or are you ignoring me?

Madame Bovary
MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE OR MONSIEUR VERDOUX

Excuse me, Metz & Fred. May I share

Is it JANE WYMAN.

I did the original post and I would like to stick to real places as opposed to fictional.
(states, cities, landmarks, directions: <--- N, S, E, W--->, countries)
OK? Bg

I think women attach themselves to "bad guys" for the danger and excitement. In
some of the classic "gangsta" movies, the spoiled rich "dames" are definitely in
it for those reasons, thinking "Daddy" can always get me out of my predicament.
My fav is Edward G. Robinson

Thanks for this post! The acting ensemble is matchless. The direction on the mark.
The black & white photography is perfect. The starkness of Wuthering Heights
against the brightness of the Linton Mansion. Altogether, SUPERB!!!

"BB" - Please give the version Fred mentioned a try. Well worth your time!
Nobody does it like Sir Olivier!!
