First, let me say, I cast no criticism, on the "Chan" movies, because I have watched them many times as well. That being said, there is a movie "Murder By Death"(hope you have seen). Long story, short: Actors play detective novel character with a twist. David Niven & Maggie Smith as Dick & Dora Charleston, etc. Truman Capote(!) plays Lionel Twain, who hosted a weekend at his house. Peter Sellers was the Chan character, and everytime he didn't use the correct language, such as: "We go to theatre", Lionel would say "We ARE going to THE theatre". It went on through the whole move. He kept saying "THE, THE, THE". -
Scared Stiff was loosely based on a movie with Bob Hope, titled The Ghost Breakers. Along with B.H.it starred Paulette Goddard and Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry?! (Otherwise known by the extrememely degrading name of "Stepin Fechit".) Check Wickipedia for his bio. Interesting.

Did you know that Captain Marvel was drawn with Fred MacMurray in mind? If you can find a picture of this hero, the resemblance is remarkable.

tv/movie couples who should have been married

Supposedly, Clark and Loretta did get together at some point. Loretta's daughter claims she is Mr. Gable's daughter as well. Truth or Fiction? -
Thanks very much! Hang in there!

I like all three. They were very different in public personality and in acting style. There is a movie called "The Royal Family of Broadway",LOOSELY based on the family. Frederic March played the"John Barrymoore" character and I thought he had his mannerisms down to a T. Ethel was incensed by the movie. In Grand Hotel, I enjoyed seeing the brotherly affection between John & Lionel. Was it for real. Who knows. There is a movie "Kind Lady" in which I thought Ethel was so good. (Maurice Evans, Angela Lansbury, Keenan Wynn) Remember the Dr. Kildare series w/ Lionel and Lew Ayres.

Hi Mark, One definition of "classics": a typical or traditional event, esp.one that is considered to be HIGHLY PRESTIGIOUS or the MOST IMPORTANT OF IT'S KIND. I would say that an interest in something like this is a compliment to your indiviuality. Some day, people will look back on this era and choose their classics.

My very first W. D. was Snow White(I'm old) so it holds a special place in my heart. Since then: Fantasia, Lion King, Bearty and the Beast -
What a original subject! My choice is short but I think, sweet. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse. In the beginning, it's morning and Cary Grant gets out of bed and wakes Myrna Loy. She sits up but is still very sleepy. Cary brings a cup of coffee, holds it under her nose and she begins to wake up. Lovely.

These are my choices from the viewpoint of important contributions. Compulsion (Leopold & Loeb)(omnipotence) Judgement at Nuremberg (Who could forget MontgomeryClift) The Ox-Bow Incident (mob violence) Inherit the Wind (evolution vs. creation) Sophie's Choice (horrible choices to be made) Gentlemen's Agreement(prejudice) Oops! 6 instead of 5

Frank, for some reason,. the rest of my post did not post. Webestang as Norman, etc. and then I said the only thing I have in common with Mrs. Bates is I like rocking chairs. Hope this makes it.
-
Hi Frank. Webestang(my boy) is not Norman B. as he said. And.....the only thing I have in common with Mrs. Bates is I like rocking chairs.
-
I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!! It seemed as though she didn't have a script. Equal to Cary Grant(sigh) in performance
-
"Singin' in the Rain". Donald O'Connor did not play second to Gene Kelly. Not a Debbie Reynolds fan but thought she shone in this musical
-
I forgot all about "Scout"!! The scene with her and Atticus in the rocking chair waiting for Jeb to wake up. Tenderness personified!!
