  6. Wendy knows her Levon Helm. Truly, great picks and a sad day for music lovers. I gotta include this one. He's a true Southerner who grew up on a farm in Arkansas where cotton was the crop. Jake

  8. Donovan was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame for 2012. It took 'em awhile and he certainly belongs. Jake in the Heartland
  9. Hi Wendy, A sad day in rock and roll. Dick Clark has died. I know I'm getting old when I see more and more of my memories pass away. May he RIP. Also, Levon Helm is battling cancer. I certainly hope he can beat it. My prayers are with him and I've gotta clip on it. The reason I posted a couple of Rod Stewart clips is that he was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame for the second time with Faces. I believe the lead guitar is Ron Wood who was with Rod and Faces. And last but not least, Donovan was inducted into the Fame too. Long, long overdue. Your husband has very good taste if he likes Zep. One of the best. Some think the best. Hope all is well. 10. I can think of nothing better than to have young people enjoying classical films. Contrary to what many may say, film does present life and history to the viewer. Every chance I get I talk to young people about film and its rich and enduring history for all of us. I certainly hope this news is true. Because it's good news for all of us. Jake in the Heartland
  11. *66% of the viewing TCM audience is in the 18-49 demographic" and judging by the number of Festival goers who were under the age of 45, TCM is not just the domain of baby boomers and retirees.* You know, I'm not being snarky here or confrontational, really. But I find that hard to believe and would like to see some substantiated facts supporting that assertion. Again, I think that is great news but I remain skeptical but always open... 14. *That song always makes me happy, though I am not a particular Rod Stewart fan.* Neither am I EXCEPT for his earlier works. I really like the hard driving, gritty and earthiness of his music at that time. After that, he bowed to commercialism and made a big buck. That's OK with me, though. Jake

  16. You are right. The Bee Gees are and were an unforgettable group of highly talented muscians. My prayers to Robin Gibb and I will always remember the music he and his fellow members presented to all of us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc5oqjFsT5g Jake in the Heartland

  23. *If I recall from reading his autobiography (this was some time ago), Dymtryk wrote that one of the reasons why he decided to change his mind is because his wife was having a hard time with him being in jail and all that not being well regarded in their social circles. Also, being cut off from making the income he was used to bringing in, Mrs. Dymtryk was having a hard time adjusting to the lack of money.* Ah, late at night while in bed and ready for some communication with his significant other he receives the cold shoulder and discontent. He's not the first nor the last who has had a change of heart regarding his outlook on things because of his beloved significant other. Really... Jake in the Heartland
