Secondly, for making "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals." Whatever faults may lie in the films is overwhelmed by the act ofmaking them. Good for him. Otherwise I have found him at times a bit loopy. Yep, it's British but I don't understand French well enough so I'm glad it is. It is a great war film that does give the viewer a glimpse of Napoleon's and Wellington's personalities. The battle scenes are colorful and realistic with a sense of grandeur and sadness. It depicts war as it was at that time and followed in our own time in The War Between the States till the The Siege of Petersburg between Lee and Grant which introduced trench warfare that was used in WW1. Ted Turner is a progressive who I have some reservations about but I stand by what I said in that he made a movie that is not Politcally Correct and I respect that. I believe he is what he is and that's a Southerner or A Southern Loyalist. So am I. Jake Edited by: JakeHolman on Dec 21, 2011 11:28 AM

Ted Turner loves history. And I, and others, owe him a lot of gratitude for his efforts to make all of us more aware of the rich history this country has. I respect him for making Gods and Generals. It is one of the few movies about the War between the States that is balanced and does give the South's position better than anything else I've had the pleasure to watch. If you look closely, you will see him. Jake in the Heartland

Napoleon Bonaparte: Never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake. That's bad manners. Waterloo As a side note: if you enjoy great battle scenes with human drama, this is a great movie to watch. Nope, it isn't 100 percent historically accurate but it's not entirely off base either. Bing Crosby...White Christmas... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJSUT8Inl14&feature=related As a side note, Bing's single record of White Christmas has sold more single records than any other. In fact, there are Bing fans who claim no one has really sold more records than he. It's how you count 'em that matters they will tell you. His dominance during his time is quite impressive. I use several sources and before I post I try to check out the post before I post it. Seems The Searchers reunited with some changes from the original band and made some great music even though it was not a commercial success. I've always liked listening to them and found this song to be a little treat. Jake

Capt. Quincy Wyatt: An interesting thing about the way the Seminoles bury their warriors. They sit 'em up and put war paint on 'em, set a bowl of fresh food alongside of 'em and then stick their favorite weapon in their hands and then they cover 'em up. With a great chief like that over yonder, they throw in the first newborn child to be born after he died. Lt. Richard Tufts: Why do they do a thing like that for? Capt. Quincy Wyatt: Well, they believe when a man dies, his spirit leaves the body and enters that of the first newborn. And in regarding a chief that high like that, they don't want the spirit to be passed on down to somebody that ain't fit to carry it. Gary Bauer, a grizzled veteran of the culture wars, articulated this view well in an interview with me recently: “You can’t have a competition if one party thinks it has to abide by one set of rules and the other side threw them out a long time ago. The idea that Republicans should follow the gentleman-like rules that prevailed in the 1950s while the left uses whatever tactics they can to advance their agenda is crazy.”
