I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with the results, myself, but we'll see how things go. > Of course I do recognize that our little democratic event was completely upstaged by the news about Osama Bin Laden, which is completely understandable. I watched one of the debates on CSPAN and found it interesting. The PM is going to increase production on oil tar sands and increase production for worldwide consumption. This will provide revenue for Canada and help him keep his promise not to increase taxes and keep the national health care intact and healthy. Tricky...and of course provide good-paying jobs. I think he is spot on. He did mention using some private services for the health care system and was critized by his opponents. But the voters did hear... I could go on with other issues. It was a lively debate and let it be said Canada has the people from Quebec who have threatened secession, too. Have a great evening...

  8. Ayn Rand only took back the money that was originally forced or taken from her and her familty... Gary Cooper was great in his role... And I look forward to watching the new movie Atlas Shrugged...
  9. If you are a collectivist or socialist, of course this movie is a farce. The essence of the movie is the individual living in a society of collectivist who are really mediocre and can't seem to understand their well-being is dependent on great feats by great men like Howard Roark. Ayn Rand was no true feminist. She acknowledged the prowess of the male and his role as a dominant partner in a relationship. This upset the feminist and egalitarians. I am fully aware of Ayn Rand's personal life and her atheist beliefs and I do not endorse either but her portrayal of a society of sheep I think is right on... 10. > {quote:title=JackFavell wrote:}{quote} > Help is an underrated album... they were starting to experiment with time and rhythm and instrumentation here. I think the music isn't given much thought as the movie overshadowed everything to do with the album. I like this one, which doesn't get played very much. > > > > I think it's very telling that the cover of HELP! Is the boys doing semaphore signals, supposedly of the word HELP but really spelling out NUVJ. The photographer decided that the letters HELP were not the most attractive way the boys could be positioned so they used the other letters instead. So Lennon's cry for HELP! as the band dealt with fame and depression, was subverted by a more pleasing image that wasn't real. JF, I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. It was the beginning of experimentation. As I get older, I find myself liking those early days of the Fab Four better and better. Help is a great album. 11. America should wish it had a role model like Gary Cooper today. Strong, silent and with a steely resolve that we don't see in our feminine men stars of today. By the way, I'm a big fan of Gary Cooper. Jake

  15. Hey Mr. Mongo, In these tough times, it's sometimes forgotten our little buddies are hurting, too. My little guys, cats and dogs, are doin' OK but there are many that are in bad straits by former owners who drop them off in apartment complexes and neighborhoods hoping someone will adopt them. God bless the SPCA. Jake Thanks for the past requested pics...

Then bring me me some Gulf fried shrimp and I'm good to go... See ya next time...and hope all is well... Jake
