Other than some snafus I've encounter, the board reminds me of a beauty parlor. A little too feminine for my tastes... Edited by: JakeHolman on Mar 9, 2011 8:05 PM -
Roles They Wish They HADN'T Rejected!

Gary Cooper tuned down the role of Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. Of course, he continued on to do big things... -

I can remember listening to these guys in the 80's--especially in the old style Fridays restaurants. Loved to sip a beer at the bar and wink at the working girls after a hard week of work on a Friday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZLfjsqbx90 Jake

Critics savage it by comparing it to Lawrence of Arabia. Unfair as far as I'm concerned. I remember reading that Robert Wise said The Sand Pebbles was one of the most difficult movies he ever tried to make. I gotta believe he wanted to include many details to keep the movie original. It's Steve McQueen's best performance hands down and he should have won the best Actor for his performance. I own the DVD and thoroughly enjoy it...

One hope kept Jim going: a hope common to most men. Rich or poor, strong or weak, who among us has not begged God for a second chance? Lord Jim

Elvis is known for his rock and roll. However, his prowess in Gospel music is very impressive and he loved to sing Gospel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8MUbARRGSU Jake

> {quote:title=stjohnrv wrote:}{quote} > Your eulogy for Heston was certainly "cold and dead" for an actor who has left behind a catalogue of films folks will be watching and enjoying 100 years from now. Myself i wish chuck was back , guns and all, young and still able to give us more like El Cid, Ben Hur and 55 days at Peking. Films today seem for the most part little in comparison. Ditto... The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur and El Cid are three of the finest movies ever made--Epic or otherwise. There are few actors who had the presence of command as Big Chuck on the screen.

Hi JF, I know you like Emmylou as I do and I can only say I don't how she got that voice but I'm sure glad she's got it and I got to hear it. Must have come from God. Here's one of her signature songs before I move on... Hope all is well with you and your family. Jake

I have not dissected one, but with the description of "vestigial gills" in scientific texts, I think there must be more analogous tissue than just "grooves." We also have vestigial tails, and other vestigial organs, as do many animals. Some whales have vestigial limbs, buried in their bodies. But, as this is hardly the place to argue the truth of evolution, and logic and facts rarely triumph over some people's faith, I will desist in this line of argument. *But, as this is hardly the place to argue the truth of evolution, and logic and facts rarely triumph over some people's faith, I will desist in this line of argument.* Ah, I will desist, too but please, ID has adherents who are not adherents because of faith. I happen to be one who believes in ID who has that faith. ID is a systematic system that uses scientific methods, not faith. You have a good evening...

I don't think I've ever heard Wabash Canonball done so fast before! Yes they were and Steve Morse can play with the best of 'em. Patsy is my number one country female singer. Here's another lady in my top five who can sing like a bird too... Take care...
