  1. >*Correct. Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst.*

  2. >I wanted to say how much I loved the Abba and the Pop Musik videos, Jake.

    >Here's to a new year of music! Thanks

    Thank you so much JF...

I know things are getting heated about politics on this board but please remember as I always have said: *NO POLITICS ON THIS THREAD*...

And, it's people like you who *DO* keep me in check...

I have *REALLY* kept my responses to a minimum...

Have a great 2010...your friend, even though you might dislike my politics...

    Jake...

  4. >The post was about cable news and Fox dominance..." - JakeHolman

    >But that wasn't evident by the title you chose for this thread nor in the OP. It is perfectly OK to summarize the content of your link when posting. I never click on "blank" hyperlinks.

    >"Fox cable ratings are superior and that is undisputable."

    >To what? You really need to work on being succinct with your assertions. And "superior" is not the typical adjective for a quantitative comparison. It is usually reserved for qualitative comparisons. But I think you knew that and chose it anyway.

    >Kyle In Hollywood

That's a shame because when you click on some other links you might learn something and that is what the post was about.

Thank you so much for your erudite pontification about posting or, better yet, maybe journalism on your part...

Nonetheless, it's New Years Eve coming up and may you have a Happy New Year and great 2010...

  5. >>2.2 million (avg) Fox viewers is still only a fraction of any Broadcast Network Evening News program and a drop in the bucket compared to the total audience of Broadcast News viewers.

    >Kyle (hoping T-W Cable stands firm against Fox's extortion) In Hollywood

You are not comparing an apple to an apple. More like an apple to an orange.

I am fully aware that the networks have most of the news market share but that share has been dropping for the past years and looks as though it will continue to do so.

The post was about cable news and Fox dominance and personalities like Glen Beck.

Fox cable ratings are superior and that is undisputable.

  6. >So what's this have to do with TCM, classic movies, Ronald Reagan's acting abilities, John Wayne's super-patriotism, Steve McQueen's coffee ****, or your YouTube music video links?

It has absolutely nothing to do with the above. That's why it is in the Hot Topic section. Cable news and its anchors have been topics on other threads so I chose to post it.

I could get nasty with you but we can no longer call one another names so simply put my posts on ignore and mind your own business.

  7. >You need only think about Political Correctness and the very short span of time it took for that lunacy to overtake our country to know how something can be undermined and destroyed incrementally, without it being too terribly obvious. I shouldn't even have to expound on that; think about it for a minute. Think of all the instances of someone making an innocent statement that some hysterical mooncalf has taken the wrong way and you'll know exactly what bottle the manciewicz may have uncorked, and how urgent it is that we get the cork back in the bottle!

    Well said brother...

  8. >I am a conservative, but I also believe in Freedom of Speech.

So am I and this is not about Freedom of Speech...it's a television format with many different viewers who do not wish to have politics in the presentation.

    >Lets face it, most every media outlet in the United States is left leaning. Get used to it. That is the way it has been for many years now. And it will continue to be that way for some time to come.

Why should that have to be so? Get used to it? Not me...

    >The first observation from Big Hollywood is false. Ben hardly ever says anything remotely like what he said for his "A Face in the Crowd" intro.

Well, maybe he made a mistake this time and Mr Nolte is only pointing out what might turn into a trend...no hysterics..

In the end, you certainly are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine and I consider myself a Conservative who cherishes Liberty, too...

But that does not apply here...

    >Clearly, misinformation has been posted elsewhere that has driven new people to the forums to start, as of today, 3 threads to complain about comments made on TCM. Really? People are upset about a guy whose maximum time on the network is limited to about 30 minutes on the weekend and maybe a couple of minutes in the monthly Now Playing interstitial. If a person wants to see bad things, then they'll see bad things. Why can't people just watch the movie and not worry about the intros/outros.

Did you happen to read Mr John Nolte's article on Big Hollywood? I found it to be very polite and respectful of TCM.

His concern is Mr Ben Mankiewicz has inserted his political beliefs into the presentation of TCM movies.

There happen to be many of us who find his remarks and innuendoes insulting.

    That's all it is about.

Please keep his political beliefs to himself as Robert Osborn and Alec Baldwin do.
