Thelma, u seem to really be missing the big picture here.....that WAS Joan..i mean n ot just the book...her freinds witnessed these things and again i guess u are finding it hard to take hearing these things about Joan...from me..i never even brought up the book Mommie Dearest..i am going by her freinds...what they saw..yes her daughter and HER from her own mouth....how she spoke about her own children.as well as this hour 1/2 documentary that TCM ran......WAS JOAN...i mean theres no way around it..i dont really know what all the fuss is about...and if u dont think the way she lived and how she treated ppl...(yes HER children to) is Evil....well then..i dont know what to say....soooo this is my last word on Joans Bad behavior in her life...but to say its very sad to talk about her..well lol.,...yes its VERY SAD what she did to her children the way she lead her life and if she wasnt this way...well it wouldnt be there to talk about to begin with...it just happens to be another part of her life...besides her acting abilitys...so this is part of her legacy...not ALL of it but yes part...so if u are going to talk about her well u have to talk about all that she left behind..as u would about anyone.. anyway im done discussing this woman...i guess i should have realized the truth hurts....Duh..my bad...btw i did discuss her acting...she was a good actress...but for me she always seemed to be holding something back...maybe it was all the confusion in her head..i dont know...but u could only get so much from her...in my eyes..she always had this crazy look in her eyes in photographs..ect...no compassion...none...not that i saw..and knowing her life..it makes scense..not that she wasnt a good actress...she was..but to me not close to what it takes to be a GREAT actress...and thats my opinion..as u have yours.. ty Ava

Hey all, all i can say is GREAT!!! great great...just got through watching The Women...great movie..everyone was great in it...and a delightful movie!..but i looooove Norma Shearer...absolutly love her.....theres one thing ive always said about actresses....its in the eyes..u can always see it in there eyes...Norma had the most compassionate eyes ..u could see right through her soul..u know how some actresses u felt like they were always holding back something or giveing away to much....with Norma it was just right..she hit her mark..every time..every word..every scene..just love her..Any other fans out there of hers? ty Ava :-) Message was edited by: AvaG92260

Thelma, though interesting comments on Joan..i must say i am tired of ppl (even todays stars) blaming there STARDOM on there faults..RIDICULOUS i say! There are plenty of famous ppl who didnt do the things to their babies that she did..this is just another person exscusing unimagineable behavior because someone is a "star" to be honest it sickens me....saying that, i will give her some credit ONLY in her acting ONLY....i watched The last of Mrs Chaney this morning and i have to admit she was very good..but so was the movie..very entertaining..and there were moments when u could see a soul in her...now this was obviously very early in her carrer so maybe she wasnt so bad yet...but u know im not the only one who says these things about her..ppl who KNEW her she was a very self centered sick person.,.it is what it is...nothing to be done about it...but please dont ever try to exscuse someone beating practiclly torching there OWN babies because there a star AWFUL....its one thing to be self centered star..whatever..a drunk self sabotage but when u bring it to your children...DONE..no discussion anymore....there are no exscuses u can make for that..and as far as her daughter...damn..i hope she got something for what her and her brother went through in the MOST important time of their lives.....there mother just happen to be Joan Crawford...that does NOT give joan crawfored the right to abuse them..ANYONE.....to top it off she left in her will i leave christina and christopher nothing and they know why...what kind of mother (person) could do that..what could to little children possibly have done to her...she went on the dick cavett show and said terrible things about her children... called them spoiled brats and u can have them... this is on national tv..if thats not sick i dont know what is......my god..come on..get real..she was what she was an evil person..or shall i say SICK..very sick....and yes an actress...something so few of ppl ever abtain she had..and look what she did to those who loved her...terrible..sorry but i cant stand to hear ppl..EXSCUSE stars for the behavior simple because there stars...FIRST were all human beings and we need to act like that before anything else... one more thing there are plenty of "stars" who act like human beings first.... ty all Ava Message was edited by: AvaG92260

Hey All, i am sorry to say to all you Joan Crawford fans but this woman was awful..anyone who can treat her own kids the way she did..beating them with hangers..Harnesses on your babies..making them stay in them.....i mean SICK...mean and a drunk sheeesh whatz there to like about her...married how many times..my god...how many affairs...shall i go on..i mean no matter how good of an actress u are (and honestly i think there was alot better then her)...you have to have some redeaming qualities as a PERSON first to be liked in your craft...who cares about her craft..AWFUL person thats all i can say about her..good riddins!
