hey GeneKGirl, First off i think Gene Kelly isTHE greatest song and dance man ever!... There was always the talk comparing he and Fred Astaire...to me Gene Kelly i liked better then Fred...in every way! I absolutly loved him in An American In Paris! I loved Gene in all his movies.....i could watch him dance forever...and was he gorgoues! Oh my.....lol.. Anyway......Pal Joey was GREAT! You are going to love it.....as well u will love Rita Hayworth and Kim Novaks performances...theres a scene in it when Kim sings "Funny Valentine" beautiful! And dont worry i am SURE in the 35 movies ect that they play, u can almost guarantee that Pal Joey will be one of them! Certainly one of my favs by Frank...but i am a HUGE Sinatra fan so i like em all.....heehee Enjoy! AvaG :-) Message was edited by: AvaG92260 -
Fred, i must add i TOTALLY agree with Mr.Hitchcock and u as well...lol...heehee.. Vivain was sooooooo beautiful..my gosh....i think the best way to put it is she reminded me of a porcelin doll....just flawless...but very SEXY eyes....lol......i loooooved her CAT eyes...heehee AvaG ;-)

Hi ya Fred! SEE Hitchcock was right....lol...he usually was..brilliant director ya know...heehe.. Thank u for that that was awesome! AvaG! ;-)
-
TripleHHH, GREAT movie...it was one of Hitchcocks earlier films, but Olivier and Joan Fontaine...great! I happen to own this one it is part of my collection! A little trivia for for ya, Olivier from the time he got the role wanted His wife the incredibly beautiful Vivian Leigh for the lead role, Hitchcock let her test but in the end no way he said basiclly that Viv was just to beautiful for the part and that noone is going to beleive that she is this moust girl noone wants......just isint going to work...well we all know the end Joan got the role, at great dismay to Olivier i mus add and she prooved to be PERFECT in it, and Hitchcock was right.... Olivier was known for always haveing Viv around wanting her in his movies..making a fuss if she wasnt.....but i mean can u really blame him....lol... Anyway just a little trivia for ya....Enjoy Rebecca...i know i do every time i watch it AvaG :-)

bronxgirl, funny u say that, its the same with my mom....lol..she adores him! And yes as well so do i...bjut she grew up with him..met him....lol...must have been pretty neat...anway yes the movies they showed yesterday were FAR from ANY of his hits....the movie u mentioned yes he was ALL wrong for that movie..plus the movie stank..i thought, but thats why its not one of his (or even close) in the arena of his repetoire....saying that i higly reccomend u checking out the movies i mentioned if u want to see Bill Holden in all his glory..appreciate the work that made him famous! Makes sense to me... ty for your thoughts Bronxgirl AvaG :-)

btw... those 3 movies that i am adding to my collection and are my favs are..Sunset Boulevard, Love Is A Many Splendard Thing, Born Yesterday, Stalag 17..oops did i say 3...lol...Anyway no matter who the actor in the movie...to me its the WHOLE picture...not JUST the actor..for me anyway for MY library it has to be the other actors..script,director...ect.... ty AvaG

Nice to know that he did win an acadamy award though for Stalag 17...and there ya go another great movie they should have played that day...wow did they miss the boat or what...lol. Hi ya Cashette, U mean they showed them today right? I know they did..... 12 hours on a actors bday...u play his BEST....it just makes semse to me...anyway ummmmm the movie u asked me about....is no Bridge Over River Kwai...did u see that one..that was his HIT..This one with Sophia Loren bombed..misrebly....anyway hun i just think u should be playing his hits today of all days..but they didnt anyway...as i said before its not just Bill..i just think the selection lately had been pretty poor and im not alone there alot of my feinds have been complaining this was just like the last straw..LATLEY...how much latley id say a for sure this week....but it just seemed to be more consistant...i mean usually on a actors bday they DO show TCM..there hits..this was just kinda was like well thats strange to me... Anyway its all good.... Happy BDay Bill as i said before u still have the girls goin gaga for ya..lol. AvaG

Iz, Hog Wash....lol...just playin....heehee... u have a good point about showing his other movies too....and yes i know that TCM does play William Holdens movies...STILL in my opinion and may i dare say i bet u if Bill were alive he as most actors do..DO not want to see there movies that didnt actually do anything for there carreers good...and that im sure he would want to see his BEST movies on of all days his bday!...As every1 knows actors are THE most vain ppl...because they have to be..lol...and as far as TCM playing his other movies isint ironic that they NEVER play these movies they played today....."normally" as u pointed out they play his others most of the time...sooooo to me (and my mom, huge holden fan) and im SURE other fans that they would MOST of the time want to see the good ones NOT the bad.....It just makes scense....And for sure on HIS Bday! So all is done already and not 1 of them was played...except Country Girl...which btw he won best actor for... Anyhoot its not just Bill as i said before..to me it just seems latley, honestly i dont think the selection has been so hot (in general)....my opinion....except for the documenatrys and some good ones here and there..iit use to be more consistant from what i remember...again thats just the way i feel...as i said before i still love TCM for what it stands for...ect ect ect....lol.. ty yall AvaG:-) -
Cashette, it is his BDAY!! Cool.....HAPPY BDAY Billy!..But..Cashette..did u see the movies they picked tp play of his...My god..come on....n ot 1 besides Country Girl..and personally that wasnt even one of my favs by him...terrible..who is programming..they know nothing about him unforunatly... anway..HAPPY BDAY again Bill..u were tops to me...heehee. AvaG!! :-)

Hey All, about a month a ago i did a thread on one of my FAVs...Mr Bill Holden... .Today is William Holdes B-day well u would think being hios bday and all it would be the BEST OF......but geeeeeeeez..look what u play NONE of his hit movies..NOT 1......Sunset Boulevard....Love Is A Many Splendard Thing...the movie with Judy Holiday (sorry if forget the name) my point is there all missing in action..PLUS u played his bombs...lol...i mean movies that didnt even make it THEN at the box office..DUH...i think TCM is wonderful at there documentaries..every time..but boy do they miss the boat when programming some times....actually latley ALOT of the time....,..its like someone who has NO idea about William Holden really just pulled ANY old movies..Just really bad..i wish i knew who the programmer was and honestly latley just BAD choices..not ALL..but ALOT....like the last WEEK of movies..just mainly bad.....get a NEW programmer....bring back the old....lol..i guess... Well i guess all i can do is hope the old programmer comes back....just makes u go HUH???? Why would they play that... Anyway HAPPY BDAY BILL!!! ty AvaG ps i still adore TCM what it stands for but sheeesh programming need to get it right..please exscuse all my typos i have what they call trigger finger..its still not healed..ty all Message was edited by: AvaG92260 Message was edited by: AvaG92260 Message was edited by: AvaG92260 Message was edited by: AvaG92260
