  3. Hi ya Cashette,

U mean they showed them today right? I know they did..... 12 hours on a actors bday...u play his BEST....it just makes semse to me...anyway ummmmm the movie u asked me about....is no Bridge Over River Kwai...did u see that one..that was his HIT..This one with Sophia Loren bombed..misrebly....anyway hun i just think u should be playing his hits today of all days..but they didnt anyway...as i said before its not just Bill..i just think the selection lately had been pretty poor and im not alone there alot of my feinds have been complaining this was just like the last straw..LATLEY...how much latley id say a for sure this week....but it just seemed to be more consistant...i mean usually on a actors bday they DO show TCM..there hits..this was just kinda was like well thats strange to me...

    Anyway its all good....

    Happy BDay Bill

as i said before u still have the girls goin gaga for ya..lol.

  4. Iz,

Hog Wash....lol...just playin....heehee... u have a good point about showing his other movies too....and yes i know that TCM does play William Holdens movies...STILL in my opinion and may i dare say i bet u if Bill were alive he as most actors do..DO not want to see there movies that didnt actually do anything for there carreers good...and that im sure he would want to see his BEST movies on of all days his bday!...As every1 knows actors are THE most vain ppl...because they have to be..lol...and as far as TCM playing his other movies isint ironic that they NEVER play these movies they played today....."normally" as u pointed out they play his others most of the time...sooooo to me (and my mom, huge holden fan) and im SURE other fans that they would MOST of the time want to see the good ones NOT the bad.....It just makes scense....And for sure on HIS Bday!

So all is done already and not 1 of them was played...except Country Girl...which btw he won best actor for...

Anyhoot its not just Bill as i said before..to me it just seems latley, honestly i dont think the selection has been so hot (in general)....my opinion....except for the documenatrys and some good ones here and there..iit use to be more consistant from what i remember...again thats just the way i feel...as i said before i still love TCM for what it stands for...ect ect ect....lol..

    ty yall

  6. Hey All,

about a month a ago i did a thread on one of my FAVs...Mr Bill Holden... .Today is William Holdes B-day well u would think being hios bday and all it would be the BEST OF......but geeeeeeeez..look what u play NONE of his hit movies..NOT 1......Sunset Boulevard....Love Is A Many Splendard Thing...the movie with Judy Holiday (sorry if forget the name) my point is there all missing in action..PLUS u played his bombs...lol...i mean movies that didnt even make it THEN at the box office..DUH...i think TCM is wonderful at there documentaries..every time..but boy do they miss the boat when programming some times....actually latley ALOT of the time....,..its like someone who has NO idea about William Holden really just pulled ANY old movies..Just really bad..i wish i knew who the programmer was and honestly latley just BAD choices..not ALL..but ALOT....like the last WEEK of movies..just mainly bad.....get a NEW programmer....bring back the old....lol..i guess...

Well i guess all i can do is hope the old programmer comes back....just makes u go HUH???? Why would they play that... Anyway HAPPY BDAY BILL!!!

  7. Fred,

of all ppl i cant belive that u brought that up..Joan...well put it this way what they were saying is were ALL flawed...we dont BEAT the heck out of our kids and torture them....no he didnt do that from what his kids said from what his freinds said..NOTHING but praise.... He drank, he had his own normal demons, growing old, scared these kinds of things....he didnt intentionally hurt other ppl....UNDERSTAND...like his OWN children...They had 3 of his children speaking and not 1 of them a bad word..not 1..actally not 1 bad word from anyone except that he had affiars and liked young girls......All they said was how kind and GENTLE he was..TOTALLY diffrent from how they talked about Joan..she was NOT a sympethetic person AT ALL.... in life period to anyone...And Fred arent u the one who said to me They have been saying these things about Joan for years?

Anyway to bad u missed it it was great..but i have to say i am shocked at u Fred., but i know better now.....thats all im going to say... see u just never know over the internet...hmmmmm

Ty again TCM..the documentary was fantastic, for such a beloved and gentle man!

  8. Hey All,

wow....there ya go again TCM with another winning documentary!! Amazing..i just finished watching the documentary here on TCM on Charlie...it was GREAT..I mean TCM really knows how to do a FULL documentary on someones life..from beggining to end!! All the way...i must be honest i never really appreciated or watched Charlie Chaplins work..TILL now....this man was a genius a master at his craft! From the physical comedy to his actual acting...i have to say as well i watched talking picture i had ever seen with Charlie today....Limelight! with the BEAUTIFUL Claire Bloom...well it knocked me out...what a BEAUTIFUL movie...and Charlie made me cry...for real...i was soooooo moved....just in AWE of this man....i like when the host (sydney Pollack)said that with all his flaws it just meant he was human....a gentle soul always...

Just want to say Thank you again TCM for showing me something i never would have known or appreciated if it hadnt been for your channel...

    Ty again,

    AvaG :-)

  9. hamradio,

i understand what your saying.....being in THIS generation.. ...absolutly very confusing...but in that time..it was GROUNDBREAKING stuff..... i mean it was not OK then, but it was excepted......NOW today theres no way someone could make this movie and DARE try to be "funny" about it..... just wouldnt happen... But u are right when u say that Mel Brooks is a GENIUS..he truly is...to me MY favorite comedian...writerod all time!..with out a dought!!! A GENIUS...but with that genius there were other ppl involved (of course) oh of course the actors..thats a given...but i mean he had other wirters helping him as well....which leads me to half those "racial" scenes and joke in the movie, were written by none other then Richard Pryor himself...As u know a man who pushed everyones buttons when it came to race in his own act as well as obviously others.....my point being that even THEN u had a black man writing the stuff that we all were laughing at then and today find rather shocking..or shall i say confusing....

Anyway, no dought Blazing Saddles was a greaaaaat movie..i hope every1 laughed as much as i..but i must add the other movie EQUALLY funny done the SAME year as Blazing was ...YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN!! My other Mel Brooks/ Gene Wilder colab..FAV!!!

    Again tyall
