ditto! on Remember the Night. This has been one of my favorite films since I found it about 10 years ago. What helps make this a great holiday film along with Stanwyck & MacMurray is Beulah Bondi, Elizabeth Patterson and Sterling Holloway. The spirit of Christmas at MacMurray's family farm reminds me of our family Christmas'. Happy Holiday's

Oops push the wrong button. wanted to push spell check I told this story before (probably last year) but there are several new people here I thought I would repeat it. A few years back we had are feast all laid out on the table and waiting for family to show up. Well with all we had to do we never paid much attention to our little four legged family member - the dog. I had only left the dinning area for just second when a came back and froze in my tracks. There in the middle of the dinning room table was the dog. He look at me I looked at him. He with a mouth full of ham and me in disbelief. Though it was just split second it felt like we were starring at each other for a good minute. I just started cracking up at his "Oh $hit" look on his face. I just cut of that end of the ham and said nothing. It was our little secret.

Who Is The Saddest Character In A Movie?
bggalaxy replied to professorecho's topic in General Discussions
Another sad character in one of my favorite films, Holiday, is Edward "Ned" Seton played by Lew Ayers. The ending (spoiler) Does give him some hope when Hepburn promises to come back for him. -
one quote from Butch & Sundance I Thought would be there is (not sure of exact words): I can't swim! (Sundance) Hell! The fall will probably kill ya! (Butch)

Wow that reminds me: Lancasters character in "The Swimmer" -
not all the clues work but "Remember the Day"

By the way - is there a male counter-part to this thread? What would it read?

Stanwyck in so many rolls I always liked Streisand's hooker in Owl and the Pussycat. Dietrich in Destry Rides Again

Sorry if I had not welcomed every new poster on the board. I generally, when I realize a person is new, would try to welcome them in. So many times I welcome a new name and find out it's an oldie with a new log in name. Or the new person has posted so many times before I see their name I figure they are already in the swing of things. I even welcomed back the Prof when I noticed he returned since late spring. Here's a BIG WELCOME TO ALL ! -
Ditto here to everyone. A new Thanksgiving tradition since my daughter was 4 years old (now 10)is going to a movie before the big family get together. Since it's her choice - this year were seeing the Incredibles. After the movie we start preparing our portion of the feast - we are in charge of the mash potatoes and buns (every year) . By 5:30 we at the table by 5:50 we are belts unbuckled and reclined watching another movie or game.

Your right, Mongo, I saw that for the first time this year on the Fox Movie Channel. Recorded it at the time and added it to my favorites. Unfortunately it was touching but did not bring the tears. I think it was because I had heard so much about the film over the years that when I finally saw it - it lost some of it's impact.
-
I just watched "Lassie Come Home". I had not seen this for awhile. It made me bawl as a kid and tear up today. Another pet film I have not seen in a long time (since I was a kid) that made me cry was disney's "The Incredible Journey".
-
for another clue: Lassie
-
makes a "reel" film buff is when the words "a$$holes, dumb $hit$, etc, come into play when you hear someone is doing a remake.
-
Phoebe, I'm glad to hear the "Notebook" is a tearjerker. I have not seen it yet, but now I have something to look forward to. - Thanks
-
This is a bit off the topic but it does have to do with tearjerkers. If you ever need a dose of tears, watch Extreme Make Over Home Edition. I believe it is on weekly on ABC. This show, more times than not, makes my family tear up. The basis of this shows is a group of builders and designers totally redo a family in needs home. The effect that these makeovers have on these deserving families is uplifting.

Well thays good news! I'm glad ML feeling in the pink again. We miss her words. To Modem: I sorry hear that you are feeling kaput. We know that ML just works you to "death". Shut down for awhile, take two hard drives, some megs and will see you back up soon. -
As for roles: Vivacious Lady Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Destry Rides Again Shop Around the Corner Winchester 73 Harvy No Highway In the Sky Flight of the Phoenix
-
Bogart for the same reason already mentioned: He has more films on my favorites list. I do feel Cagney was more versatile and talented.
