  1. #1 1951 A Christmas Carol (Scrooge)

    #2 Mr. Magoo's A Christmas Carol

    #3 Scrooged

There have been ads for a TV film call Karrol's Chirstmas (I think?). They state: "What if the ghost's went to the wrong house?" as the basis of the movie. Has this played yet and was it funny?

  2. Welcome back daddys.

A film that got the tears going the third time I watched it (not the first two times) was Family Man. My famliy watched this Monday night. The scene where he knows he going back to his old life and he's looking at his children for the last time really got to me this year.

  3. I have never been a fan of Huttons work. Though one of my favorite movies as a kid was the Greatest Show on Earth. Even back then I liked the film for Stewart, Heston, and the rest except for Hutton. I saw The Miracle of Morgans Creek for the first time this year and again the film was good except for her (I'm sure everyone here thinks she was great in this - Eddie deserved better). Anyway, we all seem to have that certain actor who, no matter their praises by the masses, you just can't enjoy. Shes one of mine.

  4. Some of the films we watch each year during the holidays:

    Remember the Night

    The Ref

    White Christmas

    Holiday Inn

    Come to the Stable

    The Bishops Wife

    Miracle on 34th St.

    Family Man

    A Christmas Carol (51)

    Scooged

    Mr Magoos Christmas Carol

    Bells of St. Mary's

    Meet Me in St. Louis

The Man Who Came to Dinner

    Rudolph

The Grinch who Stole Christmas (both)

    The Little Drummer Boy

    The Santa Clause

    Home Alone

There are more but I can't think of them right now

  5. Thanks for bringing up the Desk Set, Sandy. I pull out all the xmas movies to play each year and I never think to pull this one out. It does take place duing the holidays - you'd think I would have remembered being it's one of my favorites.

  7. I have not seen Remember the Night on TCM yet. I not sure which studio made it. I hope they can get a hold of it and show it - Stanwyck and MacMurray are at there best in it.

As far as more current Christmas films go, The Ref has become a holiday favorite at our house. Leary, Davis and Spacey are as funny as he11. Glynis Johns is perfect as the mother/mother-in-law.

  8. I'm glad I missed it. I think I'll keep my distance from bio film of favorite actors. Though she wasn't one of my favorites (I did not dislike her) I can't watch Joan Crawfords films anymore because of Mommy Dearest. I know it suck but I can't help thinking what she was doing after they yelled cut.

  9. Thanks to pgm80 and zooty I forgot to list

    Quigley Down Under

Calamity Jane (was watching this the weekend Keel died)

    Would also like to add:

    Little Big Man

    The Cowboys

    The Way West

Friendly Persausion (Civil War era - does that count?)

  10. ditto! on Remember the Night. This has been one of my favorite films since I found it about 10 years ago. What helps make this a great holiday film along with Stanwyck & MacMurray is Beulah Bondi, Elizabeth Patterson and Sterling Holloway. The spirit of Christmas at MacMurray's family farm reminds me of our family Christmas'. Happy Holiday's

  11. Some of mine:

    Destry Rides Again

    Dances With Wolves

    Tombstone (Russell)

    Winchester 73

    Magnificent 7

Once Upon A Time In the West

Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid

    Outlaw Josey Wales

    The Shootist

    Stage Coach

    Eldorado (guilty pleasure)

    Warlock

    Lonesome Dove (I know it's a mini-series)

A Big Hand for the Little Lady

    A Man Called Horse

  12. Oops push the wrong button. wanted to push spell check

I told this story before (probably last year) but there are several new people here I thought I would repeat it.

A few years back we had are feast all laid out on the table and waiting for family to show up. Well with all we had to do we never paid much attention to our little four legged family member - the dog. I had only left the dinning area for just second when a came back and froze in my tracks. There in the middle of the dinning room table was the dog. He look at me I looked at him. He with a mouth full of ham and me in disbelief. Though it was just split second it felt like we were starring at each other for a good minute. I just started cracking up at his "Oh $hit" look on his face. I just cut of that end of the ham and said nothing. It was our little secret.
