Just a reminder only 6 months 'til Christmas - UGH! Each holiday season we pull out the following: White Christmas The Ref Bishops Wife Come to the Stable Holiday Inn It's a Wonderful Life Miracle on 34th Street Home Alone How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both) Scrooged Mr Magoo's Chirstmas Carol Try to catch 1951's "Scrooge" on the tube (don't have this on tape or DVD. These and others are always a must in our house come the holidays. Also - Planes, Trains, And Automobiles and Dutch around thanks giving. What are some other good Thanksgiving films out there?

Close Mongo, the original Minnie was really a dude. At the time they had auditioned 1000's of girl mice for the role. Just when they were about to give up, they saw Marvin Mouse on another set in the dance chorus. His "mannerisms" were were exactly what they were looking for. It wasn't until "Minnies" third film that they replaced Marvin with Mandie Mouse (who took on the stage name of Minnie). If you look real close you can note change in features between her/his second appearance and the third. That is why Minnie always has the bloomers or bottoms on. You notice Daisy Duck does not have this in her wardrobe.

Barbara Stanwyck came to mind first, then Jean Arthur and Irene Dunne

Sorry again, I'm at work and you know they do pay me to actually do something. Yes! classic has it.

Sorry, I tried to log on at home and it would not let me post. Nice guess but no. #2 Diplomat

I'll be leave work now. I'll try to log on at home later (psscuddles). I'm not going to leave a going away clue - because I think I screwed up and left and easy clue already. I wanted to start differently but typed in the below clue first. Oh well, good luck.

Sandy - ditto on the pancake scene. I sure do miss his stuff (Candy). My wife and I have been searching for Uncle Buck in widescreen for a long time. Best Buys had a two for 15.00 sale and there it was - a widescreen version - I was so happy (it doesn't take much). The other favorite Candy films: Plane, Trains and Automobiles Summer Rental Only the Lonely - I know - it's a guilty pleasure with O'Hara and Quinn Cool Running Brewster's Million
-
DVD's that I picked up were not classics, but we enjoy them: Return of the King, Uncle Buck (finally found a widesceern version), and Ferris Bueller's Day Off Tape: Now Voyager, The Chosen, and Vision Quest (a guilty pleasure)

oops! sorry about the double post.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up on the future of the uncut version. I for one taped it to watch this weekend but I will definitely wait for the restored version. Again thank you - I appreciate your input.

Wow, thanks for the list path! There are a few there I have not seen yet and will make the effort to watch or tape them. This is exactly what I was looking for! By the way, and I believe it alerted earlier in this thread, but I finally had the chance to watch the tape I recorded of Now Voyager. What a gem! I can't believe it took so long for me to finally see this film. It has now been added to my list of Davis favorites. Thanks to those who have recommended this film.

Just 5 huh? Just off the top of my head: Holiday Penny Serenade Bring up Baby Bachalor and the Bobby-soxer His Girl Friday Just to get it out of my system, my top ten would have: Room for One More My Favorite Wife Philadelphia Story Talk of the Town In Name Only -
for another clue "Kings Go Forth"
-
Exactly Path, and thank you! it was that thread that helped me find: Come Live With Me The Man Who Came To Dinner Ninotchka & The Human Comedy I taped all these and added them to our collection of films. I have taped others mentioned - though good - I didn't feel I would ever say "I feel like watching so & so tonight". Even so to find the above four was a thrill! This is what I enjoy, the finding of personal gems. Maybe if everyone would list a best daily bet on the other thread that would be great! I'd be a happy camper!
-
I'm not sure if I can explain this correctly, but I'll Try. I know we have a "great movie alert" thread, but there seems to be lull of great movies to alert us on. What I'm hoping for is a daily thread where those of you who are more knowledgable than me or other novice classic watchers, to list a film or two for the coming day that nay be the best of day. Take tomorrow, of the listings, I have only seen "Saboteur". Not one of my favorites but as for the rest - I am clueless. Is "Crossroads" any good? I am trying to find new gems. On the whole I have usually seen 2 or 3 films a day. The rest I have never seen or have not wanted to from the description or actors. I know that they maybe good but I'm not sure. I can only tape a film or two and watch it later so what you - who have seen a film and recommend it would be helpful. I hope this isn't to confusing but I really enjoy finding new favorites. Awhile back I found The Human Comedy from some of you here. I WANT MORE!

chris - the movie was "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane"
-
I'm not sure thats if thats good or bad. Have you heard anything yet?
-
Wow I can't wait to see this film! I taped it the other day but have not found the 2+ hours to watch it yet.
