  1. A fun movie about Hollywood is "Get Shorty".
  2. Hi there! Welcome to the wonderful world of classics and not so classics. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
  3. Something odd just happened to my post below. A sad face appeared in the middle of my statement where "(" this was suppose to go. How did that face get there? I've seen these in other posts but I thought you had to down load them or pay for them. If anyone can explain this - I would be greatful.
  4. Here are my favorites:(I know I'll remember some others later) The Great Escape Saving Private Ryan Battle of the Bulge Von Ryan's Express Kelly's Heroes Go For Broke The Longest Day Battle of Britain (1969) As for the home front: The Human Comedy Best Years of Our Lives Enchantment
  5. I feel Judy looked her best in Meet Me in St Louis.
  6. A list for those made after the 1960: West Side Story A Sure Thing Lord of the Rings Series Lonesome Dove Ever After Dances With Wolves Feild of Dreams Dave Platoon The Breakfast Club
  7. These three have already been listed but they had suckered the first time I saw them. The Sixth Sense The Sting The Usual Suspects Spoiler: I just watched Primal Fear this weekend because it was mentioned on this thread. Good film but I expected a different twist at the end. I figured that he was faking it in the scene when the battery was going down on the camera (though I thought Aaron was faking Roy not visa versa). The look on his face when he heard the the beeping sound and the start of his head rubbing gave him away. I thought that the twist was going to be that he was on MaHoney's payroll and MaHoney was calling the shots. Help please: I must have missed this but why did Roy do it? If he was Roy faking Aaron- what was Roy's motive? The movie up until the end, gave Aaron the reason to get back at the guy.
  8. Thanks to TCM i was able to record the "Cowboys" in widescreen this weekend.
  9. West Side Story - My favorite movie Mr. Smith Goes To Washington - Arthur, Stewart, Arnold, Rains, & Capra Holiday - Grant, Hepburn, Ayres, Horton & Dixon Thin Man - Powell & Loy Bachalor Mother - Rogers, Niven, Remember the Night - Stanwyck, MacMurry, Bondi, & Holloway African Queen - Bogey, Hepburn, and Houston Guess Who's Coming To Dinner - Tracy, Hepburn, & Poitier Great Escape - All star cast National Velvet - Rooney, Taylor, Revere, & Crisp This was tough! I tried to pick films that I have watched over and over and still love. I also took into consider the actors involved. Like Bogey, I wanted a film of his and narrowed it down to 3 (African Queen, To Have and Have Not, & Casablanca) I chose the Queen because I thought Bogey did more with Charlie than the other two characters. Had to leave off so many films. Films with Cooper, Astaire, Wayne, A. Hepburn, Davis, Lemon, etc. I may have to do a list 2
  10. my guess would have been sandy's so for a new clue Yankee Doodle Dandy (Great play - if it comes to a theatre near you - catch it!)
  11. is2laugh - your point about his job is to do research is right on. He shows, as a host, that he doesn't or is not asked do this part of his job . He comes across as one that reads what is given to him on the cue/prompter or on a script he learned in his dressingroom. On Encore they used to have (may still) young hosts introduce the movies. They always seemed positive, energized, and happy about what ever film they were featuring. So I know there are "young - cool" folks out there the would bring it as a host.
  12. How sad, I grew up with the Odd Couple and it's re-runs. It was until I got into watching "old" movies that I realized he had a life before Felix. I definately enjoyed his work.
  13. I may be the only one who thinks of "Pumba" (The Lion King) when I hear the title Gone With The Wind.
  14. Welcome back kitty. those were all fun movies. Check out The Whale Rider I think you'll like it.
  15. Austin Powers: Hurley's sitting on a couch in the foreground. She has her foot on the so that her knee is bent pointed upward. She rests her wrist on her knee so her hand dangles limply. As she is talking to Meyers, who is nude and in the background, she points her little pinky straight out and is moving it about. Meyer is then strategically standing in the background so that her pinky lines up where his manhood would be.
  16. I loved the Love Bug, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and the Austin Martin with the ejection seat, as a kid. Some others of the top of my head: Ron Howard's Chevy from American Graffiti Jessica Tandy's Hudson Pat Morita's collection of car in Karate Kid (wax on - wax off)
  17. I know this is not it but it might lead you to your goal: "Uprising" - 2001 - about the jews in the polish ghetto who fight back.
  18. In Rocky: When Rocky firsts invites Adrian up to his apartment.
  19. Shirley Temple And Bojangles' dance routine
  20. thats pretty funny - jar
