  1. Well just checked out from the library the film Phone Booth. Have not watched it yet but I'm sure they'll be something that qualifies. In Jumpin Jack Flash and Whoopie
  2. I would say my new favorite is Pirates of the Caribbean
  3. I can't remember the movie but this momment cracked the heck out of me and my wife. The hero (William Powell, Bogart, or some detective lead) is talking with the lady in distress, when this character (suspicious) is introduced to the film. He walks right up to the hero with no introductions and says : "Say, I don't like you." and walks away.
  4. I'm not sure this qualifies: The scene from Twister where the group is taking cover in a garage (not sure if it's a gas station or not) and the place gets ripped to shreds
  5. This su@ked because I had not seen this film from start to finish in all these years - always bits and pieces. Finally came my chance to set up the old VCR. The Wife and I sit down to watch it and right at the switch board scene it freezes. Oh well I know they'll play it again.
  6. The Big Chill was great! All the song were apart of my growing up. Another film sound track I really get into is from "Vision Quest"
  7. Some of my favorites: If I Only Had Brain (not sure if thats the title) Over the Rainbow I Sing the Body Electric (Fame) The Quintet? In West Side Story (With the Sharks, Jets, Anita, Maria, & Tony) Cool (West Side Story) Heck all the songs from West Side Story Ballad of the Alamo (The Alamo) Almost all the Disney songs There are more but these are off the top of my head for now.
  8. I'm not sure if this is warrants an alert but on the 4th (3am pacific so it's tape time) is a Hepburn/Tracy film that does not get as much props as their other films. Without Love co-starring Lucille Ball & Keenan Wynn. Wynn and Ball are great in this film (Hepburn & Tracy are too of course). Just a Fun Film.
  9. I'm not sure if this thread has appeared before, if so please bring it forward, thanks. Anyway, with all the high tech action films of today what are some of your old favorites such as: King Kong, Gunga Din, Test Pilot, Tarzan, and The African Queen are some of mine off the top of my head.
  10. Think it is time for someone to take the lead if this thread is to continue.
  11. Hey prof you may be interested in thread. There's some fun homes here.
  12. My childhood home had an unfinished basement. It had always been fill to the ceiling with my grandmothers stuff. After she moved into her own house the basement was totally empty. The neighbor kids would come over and we would play The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Wolfman or the Creature of the Black Lagoon. There would be about 10 kids and one of us (usually a kid named Tommy who was the tallest) was the monster and chase us in the dark through a maze of rooms. we would scream our heads off.
  13. You may want to post this in the information section of this board. these type of questions get answered pretty fast over there.
  14. On the Band of Brothers: How many shows or hours is this series? Thanks in advance

    Silent Favorites

During the holidays there seemed to be a lot of Xmas themed silents playing. My 9 year old (she likes watching sub-titled films with me) was getting into these silents. I was pretty impressed. I, myself hated these films (silents and sub-titled) until my twenties. Except for samurai films - always loved those
  16. Anne Bancroft and Suzanne Pleshette. Are two beautiful actors I would have loved to have seen roll Kay Francis did.
  17. I really enjoy Cagney but not for his tough guy gangster rolls but for his light hearted/ musical/comedic rolls.
  18. Thanks Mongo. I set up the vcr and hope to watch it this weekend.
  19. That's pretty cool about Clint Eastwood's name
  20. For me, seeing Kay in this film (my first exposure to her) made me want to watch her other stuff. She's great!
  21. Advice please. On the 1st, the only movie I've seen is The Unsinkable Molly Brown (love it). Which one or two of the others should I try to catch or tape. Thank you.
