Irene Dunne under-rated? Maybe because she is one of my favorites but I always thought Irene Dunne was always considered one of the top stars of her time. She seems to be grouped with Hepburn, Stanwyck, Arthur, Loy, Rogers, etc. all the time. I never had the impression that she wasn't getting her props until now.

Miracle On 34th Street would be my favorite. My favorite musical is West Side Story but not because of Ms. Woods. Two others movies I enjoy are Rebel Without a Cause & Gypsy.

For me it was a few weeks ago, the film "The Human Comedy". I had never heard of this Rooney film until several on this board mentioned it as one of Rooney's best. They were right I loved this movie and Rooney had me close to tears several times.

LOL! that is so damn funny! When I first read this thread when it was started my first thought was of "Paul Newman's con man character in the Sting" I couldn't think of his character name at the time. I decided to wait to see if a more interesting character came to mind. And today as I was in IMDB, it hit me, Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings. I guess I find characters named Gandalf interesting. LOL that is just to funny, thanks bansi

Things We Would Never Know Without the Movies
bggalaxy replied to ladymirabelle45's topic in General Discussions
The bad guy will kill every one with one shot without hesitation. When it comes to the shooting the good guy - there is a speech and he'll go through a full clip and only get the arm or a leg of the good guy. It's not safe to be a friend of the hero. Women loved being treated as objects. Powerful women weren't happy because they their life was not complete without a man in charge. Cars never start when you need them to. Clothes and hair dry faster. (when caught in the rain, fall in a body of water, etc. -

Great Dancers who aren't considered Great Dancers?
bggalaxy replied to msladysoul's topic in General Discussions
You so funny - harlowkeatongirl! lol We can't compare dancers and say one was the greatest or ones style is better than another. Sure we can prefer a dance style over another but that doesn't mean the other dancer or style is less in any way. We can just sit back and enjoy the art they we, ourselves, can't do (at least I can't). It's like comparing singers, you can't, and come up with the best. Every dancer/actor dancer listed here are a joy to watch time after time and be mesmerized. I for one can watch dancing (any form) all day long. I'm a frustrated dancer (I feel the rhythm but my body won't decipher). A good example is White Nights. Gregory Hines and Mikail Baryshnikov are at to different end of dance. They are both great at what they do but the styles and the background of their dance really comes through in this film. Hines' spontaneous inner self driven tap and all it's history to Baryshnikov's classical ballet and all it's elegance. You can't compare. just enjoy. -

dark victory -
I'm not sure where this lands in this topic, but the title "Them". It is one of my favorite B si-fi's. I picture in my mind some guys in 50's attire sitting around trying to sell this idea. "Listen JB, we have these giant ants walking around the desert." JB:"Gaint ants?" Where in the hell did giant ants come from? "Radiation! JB, radiation! They start attacking people...Families, JB! They make this WEE-WEE sound. JB: A WEE-WEE sound? Yeah, JB! It will scare the s@#t out of the movie goers! And will call it... "THEM" JB: THEM? Huh? I like it!

the point of all this was if one prefers to spring ahead one hour or fall back one hour. I think the consensus is as long as one wakes up the next day it's all good.

Hedy Lamarr the most beautiful woman in films?
bggalaxy replied to msladysoul's topic in General Discussions
I too, don't feel Hedy is the most beuatiful in the world. The most beautiful is Elizabeth my wife. I say this even though she does not read this board. -
This is a month of sports in the movies isn't it? lol
