  1. I'm not sure if this is an alert or not, but sandwiched in between the Hepburn/Grant set this evening is one of my favorites - Holiday. The other two (Phil. Story & Baby)are mentioned so often that this film gets lost at times as being terriffic. Sorry, but I don't care for the Scarlet film.
  2. I was also thinking of Meet Me in St Louis and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. One more I also thought of was Holiday Inn.
  3. bachelor mother? I just had to guess. If this is wrong, good. if it's correct, someone else will need to start because I have to leave work and I can't get logged in at home. sorry.
  4. When you look in the schedule under To Hell and Back or any title that is letter boxed you will find at the end of the description will be LBX which indicates it would be shown in widescreen. This station seems to show movies in their original formate if available - that what makes this station so great.
  5. This my #1 favorite movie. I also received the DVD for Christmas and watched it that day! Widescreen made this a great treat. From the colorful intro and snapping fingers to the final credits hidden on the walls, I was a great Holiday.
  6. Here is a staving actors recipe. For the life of me I can't remember who's interview I read but this actor (male, I remember that)loved eating these when times were tough: 1 package little smokies sausages 1 cup grape jelly 1 cup picante sauce cook all together in sauce pan on low to medium heat. goes great with a box of mac and cheese
  7. I believe there was a made for tv movie made a few year after the feat.
  8. Watched Ninotchka. What a fun movie! Garbo's laughing was great. Thanks for the alert.
  9. Well I am taping Ninotchka today - I saw it listed here and keep reading how funny it is - so I'm going to finally watch it. I'll let you know how it goes.
  10. Faye Dunaway was just the opposite of what Lancasters work was to me. I liked her in Bonnie and Clyde but can not watch her stuff after that.
  11. Newmans drunk in the sting I thought was great. Especially during the poker game - though he was acting at acting like a drunk.
  12. I have never seen this movie - I will now thanks!
  13. How sad, she was one of my early crushes as a kid (from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir TV show). The great thing about films is that your favorites are just VHS or DVD away and you can see them as they were - bigger than life!
  14. I seem to recall that "friends" were quoted in the paper at the time as saying she was not able the cope with age and fading beauty. This had been bringing her down the past years leading up to her death.
  15. She committed suicide a few years back. She is in one of favorites: North to Alaska
  16. I've been waiting for a topic like this! I hope to find a lot of gems (like the Stewart-Lamarr romantic comedy) that I otherwise might over look. I may not be able to alert any movies since most of my favorites are very well known but I will definately be looking for new favorites.
  17. Thanks here also! As mentioned before I taped it and watched it last night - I was one of the romantic comedies my wife and I hunt for. I am a big Stewart fan but never heard of this film until it was mentioned here - again - THANKS
  18. I'm going to take your advice and I'm taping tonight (I will not be home in time to see the start). With Stewart $ Lamarr it has to be a winner.
  19. I just found this out - That Danny Kaye's part in White Christmas was first to go to Fred Astaire, for some reason he could/would not do it so it went to Donald O'Conner, who then injured himself and finally ended with Kaye. If this is true can you see the other two actors in the roll instead of Kaye?
  20. Never noticed - never cared. They are just too fun to watch.
  21. Burt Lancaster was one actor I did not care for. I liked Birdman but that was about it. Then he did Field of Dreams. For some reason I am able to go back to his early days and enjoy him on the screen after that movie. Another actor I still can not watch is Joan Crawford. Tony Curtis in comedies is okay but in dramas (except The Defiant Ones) I can not handle. There are actors such as Stewart, Hepburn, Grant, Stanwyck, W. Powell, Loy, Arthur, Rogers, Astaire, Crosby, etc. that I loved from the the first time I watched them.
  22. How sad, we just watched People Will Talk the other day. She will be missed.
  23. Classics: What does "totally in his cups" mean? thanks.
  24. You Can't Take It With You - There is more to life than work. But you have to have the buck to live it.
