I was wondering if the what an actor does or their behavior off the screen affects whether you enjoy their movies. for instance I can not watch Joan Crawford movies. I watch her thinking she nuts and just finshed beating the kids. Robert Downey Jr, I keep thinking he is on something while he is delivering his lines. In his case I can still enjoy his work but the thoughts are still there. I get a a little depressed watching Inger Stevens in movies knowing such a beautiful talent took her own life.

as a kid i would always get these "brothers" mixed up: Robert Stack, Hugh O'brian, & Cliff Robertson As stated earlier: father son Robert Redford & Brad Pitt Sisters: Ann Margret & Katharine Houghton (Guess Whos Coming to Dinner) Brothers: Josh Hartnet & Ethan Hawke (you can even throw in Josh Brolin) - There dad could be Nick Noltie Bud abbott & Buddy Hackett

I'm not sure this qualifies but a movie my wife and I just love is Remember the Night with Stanwick and MacMurray. MacMurray is an attorney who prosecuting Stanwyck on a jewel theft. He gets the trail held over the Xmas break. Feeling sorry for Stanwyck for being in jail over the Holidays he has her bailed out. The bonds man drops her off on Macmurry's doorstep as he is off to Indianna for a family xmas. This is an road trip, love story, family, and holiday movie nicely rapped up all together with a great supporting cast. a must see

I Remember Mama: where the family gathers around the table and she begins to read her story. "... but most of all I remember Mama." The Paper: Keaton and Quaid get the real story and are trying to stop the presses. Close won't let them. They all end up at the bar. Alexander in trying to shoot Quaid shoots Close while she is trying to stop the presses. She finally gets to make her call at the hospital. You can't take it with you: where barrymore and arnold get together and jam on the harmonicas then the dinner scene at the end The usual suspects: just a great ending period

How ironic, my family was watching the Wizard of Oz specials yesterday and had commented that Buddy was still around. And hopping that he was doing fine. I don't know too much about his movie days but i grew up with Jed. Another classic passing.

What scene represents the Best Slap ever given in a film?
bggalaxy replied to a topic in Your Favorites
Was watching The Mad Miss Manton last night and saw a great slap scene. Stanwyck (Miss Manton) mad about a news story about her written by Fonda (Ames). She rushes into his office while he talking to a fellow worker. She walks up to the co-worker and slaps him hard. "Are you Ames?" she asks the stunned man. "No, I am" says Fonda from behind her. "Well this is for you!" Then she hauls off and slaps him. Without hesitating he slap her right back and says "There, that completes the circle." All with an amused look on his face. -

Tonight my wife and I will watch Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. That speech by Spencer at the end and the way Kate looks at him knowing his condition is priceless and seem appropriate

It was Philadelphia Story that got me hooked into the classics. When I first met my wife she had told me that she loved the old black and white moveis. At the time time I did not care to much for them. She had me watch the classis Philadelphia Story. Wow what a great film! then came Bring up Baby. That led to the Hepburn/Tracy collection. That first film has lead me to not only Hepburn but Grant and Stewart, who lead me to Arthur, Dunn, and Rogers. Who lead me Powell, Astarie, Loy, Stanwyck and MacMurray and on and on. It may seem silly to say but my wife and I feel grateful that Kate Hepburn and her movies have been apart of our lifetime. We will miss her being here but we do have the movies. It is nice to think her and Spence are finally together - though she sure kept him waiting.

Movie endings you hated/were confusing
bggalaxy replied to classsyflixx's topic in Romantic Comedies
One that comes to mind is not a classic but was popular for it's time. The movie Pretty in Pink. She should have left with the other guy. -
Vivacious Lady, Talk of the Town, Bachalor Mother, While You Were Sleeping, My Favorite Wife, Easy Living, You Can't Take it With You, Ball of Fire, Clueless, and The Sure Thing are just a few of my favorites.

My number one favorite has to be West Side Story. from the finger snapping start to the "Somewhere" ending it's got me.

Thanks For the title zeker! I did see this movie as an adult and was disappointed on how hokey it was. But it still is a great childhood memory for me to this day.

This is not any particular movie but a style I find hard to watch. It's the old westerns where the costume designer has the cowboys in taylored shirts with piping or fringe. Their gun belts and saddles are covered with silver studs. Their hats are crisp and also over decorated. After watching movies like Ox Bow Incident, Stagecoach, etc. this style of movies are hard to swallow
