Wow Classic, You just reminded me of our neighborhood gang playing war - constantly. There was always about a dozen of us so we either split into teams or re-enact a scene with imaginary foes. The rule was if a "soldier" on the other team shot you had to count to 10 before you can get back into the war. On rainy days I would play with my plastic soldiers and re-enact my favorite war movies or the Magnificent 7. At the time, and still today, this memory brings a smile to me. It also makes me somber, this was the mid to late 60's - then reality hit. The war on the news made playing war unfun.
Those guys could not count to 10 and come home. For a kid 5 to ten years old it kind of sticks with you. Those friends and times were great while it lasted.

My first introduction to Ann Miller was as a kid seeing her tap dancing in a soup commercial. I don't recall the soup but the close-ups of her foot tapping was amazing! I just could not believe my eyes and ears. It wasn't long after that I saw "On the Town". I've been a fan ever since. I had planned, before hearing of her death, to watch "Stagedoor" tonight. She was the last of the that fantasic cast.

This morning Bob "Captain Kangroo" Keeshan past away. I know he is not a movie star but apart of my childhood has now left and he will be missed by me.
-
I have heard most of the comments the stars have said here from your average Joe/Joette as long as i can remember, no matter what President or policy was at hand.
It does not matter if your voice is small or loud it just great to voice at all. For every person there is a single way of thinking, and like DNA, no two are a like. We the people are entitled to our opinion of our government. From our own personal experiences we form our opinions and know one else can relate to what you, living day to day has gone through. Opinions are personal and will change many times before one moves on. I for one try to understand views of others and move on. If it does not match mine - I don't worry about it or force my view. If it an opinion I want to explore I'll say my say and listen. Anyway, a Duck walksinto a bar. Jumps up on to the counter. Looks the bartender in the eyes and asks him, "Got beer?" The bartender replies, "We don't serve ducks here! Now get out! The duck leaves.
Next day the duck walks into the same bar and up onto the counter. Looks the bartender in the eyes. "Got beer?" Again the bartender replies "We don't serve ducks! Get out and don't come back!"
For 3 more days this duck walks into the same bar and does the same thing. Finally the bartender says,"If you show up tomorrow and ask me "'got beer'" one more time I'm going to nail your webbed feet to the counter! Noe get out!"
Next day the duck walks into the bar, hops up on the counter, looks the bartender in the eyes and asks "Got nails?"

I'm not sure if this is an alert or not, but sandwiched in between the Hepburn/Grant set this evening is one of my favorites - Holiday. The other two (Phil. Story & Baby)are mentioned so often that this film gets lost at times as being terriffic. Sorry, but I don't care for the Scarlet film.
-
Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee both died during production.
-
I was also thinking of Meet Me in St Louis and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. One more I also thought of was Holiday Inn.

bachelor mother? I just had to guess. If this is wrong, good. if it's correct, someone else will need to start because I have to leave work and I can't get logged in at home. sorry.

When you look in the schedule under To Hell and Back or any title that is letter boxed you will find at the end of the description will be LBX which indicates it would be shown in widescreen. This station seems to show movies in their original formate if available - that what makes this station so great.

My first exposure to Stanwyck as a kid was the Big Valley. It was a favorite for me and my sisters. Being a kid I am not sure if this show was bad or not. I do remember that Stanwyck's character was tough, cool, and classy. She kept the boys and Evans in line. That's how I view her career to the end - all class. As far as Brando, it is his later stuff I like and not his early years. I have not seen the Score, but The Godfather I & II, the Freshman, and Don Juan DeMarco are about the only Brando movies I actually put on tape.

This my #1 favorite movie. I also received the DVD for Christmas and watched it that day! Widescreen made this a great treat. From the colorful intro and snapping fingers to the final credits hidden on the walls, I was a great Holiday.

Here is a staving actors recipe. For the life of me I can't remember who's interview I read but this actor (male, I remember that)loved eating these when times were tough:
1 package little smokies sausages
1 cup grape jelly
1 cup picante sauce
cook all together in sauce pan on low to medium heat.
goes great with a box of mac and cheese

I believe there was a made for tv movie made a few year after the feat.
-
Watched Ninotchka. What a fun movie! Garbo's laughing was great. Thanks for the alert.
-
Well I am taping Ninotchka today - I saw it listed here and keep reading how funny it is - so I'm going to finally watch it. I'll let you know how it goes.
-
Faye Dunaway was just the opposite of what Lancasters work was to me. I liked her in Bonnie and Clyde but can not watch her stuff after that.
-
Newmans drunk in the sting I thought was great. Especially during the poker game - though he was acting at acting like a drunk.
-
I have never seen this movie - I will now thanks!
-
Thank you.

How sad, she was one of my early crushes as a kid (from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir TV show). The great thing about films is that your favorites are just VHS or DVD away and you can see them as they were - bigger than life!
-
I seem to recall that "friends" were quoted in the paper at the time as saying she was not able the cope with age and fading beauty. This had been bringing her down the past years leading up to her death.
-
She committed suicide a few years back. She is in one of favorites: North to Alaska
-
I've been waiting for a topic like this! I hope to find a lot of gems (like the Stewart-Lamarr romantic comedy) that I otherwise might over look. I may not be able to alert any movies since most of my favorites are very well known but I will definately be looking for new favorites.

Ditto here...thanks
