I'm going to take your advice and I'm taping tonight (I will not be home in time to see the start). With Stewart $ Lamarr it has to be a winner.

Thanks.

I just found this out - That Danny Kaye's part in White Christmas was first to go to Fred Astaire, for some reason he could/would not do it so it went to Donald O'Conner, who then injured himself and finally ended with Kaye. If this is true can you see the other two actors in the roll instead of Kaye?

Never noticed - never cared. They are just too fun to watch.

Burt Lancaster was one actor I did not care for. I liked Birdman but that was about it. Then he did Field of Dreams. For some reason I am able to go back to his early days and enjoy him on the screen after that movie. Another actor I still can not watch is Joan Crawford.
Tony Curtis in comedies is okay but in dramas (except The Defiant Ones) I can not handle. There are actors such as Stewart, Hepburn, Grant, Stanwyck, W. Powell, Loy, Arthur, Rogers, Astaire, Crosby, etc. that I loved from the the first time I watched them.

That's cool information on Buscemi (I've been off the computer since Friday. The Elam angle is spot on.
What was Chandler in surgury for?

How sad, we just watched People Will Talk the other day.
She will be missed.

You Can't Take It With You - There is more to life than work. But you have to have the buck to live it.

I'm on the fence here. Overboard fit with the theme of the night (the heiress and the romantic comedy) plus it is also a favorite of my families. But I'm not sure it belongs on the Classics channel...yet?

No on the Dana Brown up here in Seattle. I'm not sure if if it was a network show up here or not. It was during the 60's and 70's and I can not remember what channel, time, or day it was on. I just remember that it was one of my favorites.

Is there any movies that don't have some type of message in them? I tend to think that that is why someone puts the effort in to putting it on film.

That is too bad about her battle with MS. I had my suspicions from seeing her physical appearance change so in the past several years. I wish her luck - she has always been on of my guilty pleasures since I first saw her on the Sonny & Cher Show.

This is getting off the main topic but when I was thirteen I met Telly Savalas and his kids. In my early twenties I met Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver when they were in Cannon Beach during the shoot of Kindergarten cop.
Marlin Perkins! Wow - I grew up with him and Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom - that's cool! It always amazed me that he still got in there with some of the rough stuff at his age (though Jim would take the brunt of it). I recently saw a promo for Wild Kingdom - I guess it is coming back or it's been back and I'm just noticing it now.

What cool idea! Feature our favorite character actors.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the dates - I appreciate it. I did not realize that Dan Blocker has been gone that long. How did Rettig pass away? Mako, sure has been around for a long time, I recently watched "The Ugly Dachsund" and there he was as the caterers young nephew.

My 9 year old daughter has been into the samurai movies with me of late. What is great as how well she can read the subtitles and keep up with the story. (proud daddy here) I am amazed she sits through these. When I was nine I hated subtitled movies. Come to think of it I don't think I read as well as she does.

It was also 2003 3:33

In Lady Eve, Fonda has a pet snake named Ethel in his room.
Stanwyck walks him to his door.
Fonda "Would like to come in and see my snake Ethel?" innocently
Stanwyck "That's a new one" with a smirk

Funny post! Can I legally copy and paste it and send it around? Thanks

The Jackpot, huh? I never heard of this movie and it sounds fun! That's why I come here. Thanks.

I don't feel any era of films are any better or worse than any other. There are great films and terrible film all across the board. Over time films will earn an appreciation/nostalgia value or lose their original praise status. For every film buff out there, there is a different point of seeing each film. No two will see the same film the same way all the time. That's whats so great about films of yesterday and today.

I want to thank you for this thread. If it is not too much trouble can go back to adding the dates of those we have lost. I found those very interesting. If it's to much trouble - don't bother - I understand this take some time to do everyday. Again, thank you.

Thanks here also! As mentioned before I taped it and watched it last night - I was one of the romantic comedies my wife and I hunt for. I am a big Stewart fan but never heard of this film until it was mentioned here - again - THANKS
