I'm desperately trying to find a movie, film, or serial of some sort that I saw about five years ago. I don't remember the title, or who was in it, or who directed it.
I will describe what I remember about this film, and hopefully someone out there in these forums can help me out in finding the movie I'm looking for...

It's a black and white film - probably from the 30's or 40's. It took place at a house and it's property, and was a horror/mystery film to the best of my knowledge. The moments I remember from it are as follows:
It had a floating white face that would float outside the windows of the house. It would float into view horizontally, and then float out of view in the same fashion.
Later in the film, the characters find a secret passage a couple hundred yards away from the house that leads underground. There, they find a hallway - and at the end of the hallway is that same floating white face staring at them in the dark. But it doesn't move. The characters go to investigate it, and realize that it's just a mask sitting on a mantle in an open space in the wall at the end of the hallway...
This is all I remember. I'm assuming that it had to deal with some person playing a trick of some sort on the good guys by wearing a scary white mask and dressing all in black and pretending to be a ghost outside the windows of the house. But I could be wrong. All I remember is the description I gave above.
PLEASE help me find this film! I thought it might have been "Scared to Death" with Bela Lugosi, but I watched it recently and that was not the film(it was a color film anyhow). I also bought "You'll Find Out" with Peter Lorre, Kay Kaiser, Bela Lugosi, and Boris Karloff - but alas, this one turned out NOT to be the film either. It was very similar to what I was trying to find, but it didn't have the exact moments that I was remembering.
