Never cared for the ending, but the beginning & middle hold a lot of promise. Actually, I really enjoyed Fontaine's performance, and I like the way she looks in this movie. She's attractive in a strange cool/calculating way.

Definitely THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD with the underrated GENTLEMEN JIM closely behind it.
-
Ladies:
Ingrid Bergman - thoroughly charming

I really like Alan Ladd, especially opposite Veronica Lake. THE BLUE DAHLIA, THE GLASS KEY, THIS GUN FOR HIRE. Also, he was cute spoofin' in MY FAVORITE BRUNETTE & entertaining in THE CARPETBAGGERS.
-
Doris Day/Ava Gardner/Susan Hayward/Esther Williams
-
Ingrid Bergman (from Saint to Sinner to Saint). I luv survivor stories!
-
Im a BIG Claudette Colbert fan. Norma Shearer was entertaining too, but Colbert was numero uno! On-screen, I love classic actresses who exuded elegance, intelligence, and a sexy sense of humor.
-
My top 5 oh-so romantics...
1. Notorious - Ingrid Bergman & Cary Grant light up the screen.
2. Random Harvest - Greer Garson & Ronald Colman are elegant & intelligent.
3. The Best Years of Our Lives - Teresa Wright & Dana Andrews experience "sincere love" in this one.
4. Camille - Greta Garbo & Robert Taylor are falling in love & look lovely doin' it.
5. The Thin Man - No other film couple could banterize their love like Myrna Loy & William Powell.

Im a BIG fan of CAMILLE, ANNA KARENINA & QUEEN CHRISTINA.
Last night, I watched FLESH & THE DEVIL. Gilbert was good, but he had on way too much makeup. He overplayed his scenes, while Garbo underplayed hers.
Also, in her films, Garbo always had an intriguing "look". I don't know if it was her expressions, or her face, but "it" was there in her silents & talkies.

I can't forget...
Diana Rigg & Patrick Macnee in THE AVENGERS.
Also, my favorite "James Bond" voice is Roger Moore.
