  1. Yesteryear's studio system was rigid, but there was more diversity of genres. You had a delightful mixed bag of dramas, melodramas, comedies, screw-ball comedies, film noirs, westerns, musicals, documentaries, etc.

We have some good movies today, but classic hollywood is SO romantic, enchanting & highly entertaining. And b&w just adds to the mystique.

And there is ONLY one Bergman, Garbo, Bogart, Dietrich, K. Hepburn, Davis, A. Hepburn, Grant, Stewart, Stanwyck, Crawford, Astaire, Loy, Rogers, Powell, Fonda, Mitchum, Harlow, Temple, West, Gable, Cagney, E. Robinson, Monroe, E. Taylor... the list is endless!!!

  2. Few faves:

Notorious - Alicia & Dev clinging to one another, walk down the longest stairs in film history, and leave a terrified Sebastian behind.

Random Harvest - Paula & Smithy FINALLY reunite.

The Best Year of Our Lives - Peggy & Fred plan a new life together & seal it with a kiss.

Laura - Waldo confesses his obsessive devotion to Laura & pays the ultimate price.

The Roaring Twenties - Eddie B. dragging his bullet-riddled body through the gutter.

Camille - Marguerite is desperately holding on to Armand, while slowly losing consciousness.

Queen Christina - that classic "the face" shot.

The Bells of St. Marys - a teary-eyed Father O/Malley, tells a teary-eyed Sister Benedict the real reason behind her transfer.

Bringing Up Baby - the hilarious high-flying act & admission of L-O-V-E by Susan & David.

The Adventures of Robin Hood - Robin & Maid Marion had the cutest smiles.

    The Bachelor & The Bobby-Soxer -

Margaret: "you remind me of a man."

    Dick: "what man?"

Margaret: "the man with the power."

    Dick: "what power?"

    Margaret: "the power of hoodo."

    Dick: "hoodo?"

    Margaret: "you do."

    Dick: "do what?"

Margaret: "remind me of a man...give up?"
