so I'm red and green!
It's never too early to start planning for Christmas! Ha. :-)
PS... Tell those gals at work to be nice or else your big sister here will come and take them down a peg or two... ...Yeah... that ought to scare them... :-)
(I DO still have my rope... and since the Rambles are taking a "Spring Break", I need to keep in practice anyway... At least until the day comes when WE can all start being mean to you... and certain other (grey) individuals again) Ha!

fluttery
That is a perfect word for her... especially in Arsenic and Old Lace... but just in general... she seemed to have that persona down pat... I wonder if it was just a natural trait for her????

Hi Mr. Grey... and folks...
Don't want to interupt the flow... you've got a lot of different topics going on... just wanted to say it is a fun read... and also give a nod to Shadow of a Doubt.. I have enjoyed this film since I first saw it years ago... (one of my very fave Hitchcock's) Thanks for the nice Screencaps!!
Carry on...

HEY!! Look--- All the guys just showed up to wish everybody a happy ST. PAT's

Ladies and gentlemen, these two expert film directors, fresh out of school are more worthy of my four Oscars than I am.
HA!!!
A PERFECT take on his take... I'm a thinkin' -
OH my golly... in all of the excitement around here... I almost forgot it was ST PATRICK'S DAY.... and I have been saving this youtube (courtesy of Miss G) for such a long time too!!!
PS.. I know it's not Deanna Durbin... but I think you will still agree it is a fine and fitting remembrance of the day....
And PSS.... I WANNA party with these folks... they look like people who KNOW a good time when they see one!! Ha.
(thanks April for posting this SO long ago and giving me something to look forward to all this long time. Ha)

Pandemics... not always a bad thing.....
RARELY ever a good thing.

"William Holden"???????
Ah HAH!!! "Do you hear music?" ("Do you hear me say BREAD?" Ha.)

What a pup!!!! Yet another addition to my Wanna See List.

Now as for the violin, do you prefer Heiffitz, Perlman, Jack Benny, John Garfield or William "Golden Boy" Holden (as opposed to Guinn "BIG BOY" Williams)???
Well... to be honest... I am not as up on my violinists as I should be to answer you question... "William Holden"??????? Jack Benny MIGHT be a good choice for the "humor" angle we need (instead of the sappy stuff), but in truth...I am more of an "Orange Blossom Special" kinda gal..
How about... this kid... (she even appears to have her own back up band.. and... hey... we may need a more celebratory tune playing in the background now anyway.... given the recent promising announcements) :-)
I know Ricky tends to have a more "latin" flair in his music... but I bet even HIS toes were tapping.
-
It'll be worth nothing on e-BAY,
Well THAT would be the LAST thing I would ever do ... as technophobic as I tend to be... I have never even looked at an ebay sight... my brain would likely melt... Ha.
PS... Jokes are good... humor makes the "rotten" in life a little less... well... "rotten".HEY... maybe laughter IS the best medicine.. (for that pandemic I mentioned earlier) Maybe not a total "cure", but it can at least help to lessen the general malaise brought on by continued exposure to all those germs.
Besides, Ricky would not want us to be sad...
-
Hello Molo... I love this film.. thanks for the screencaps too. I hope they have a lovely room with a scenic view ... I feel the need for a rest... So long as I don't get VETA'S check in treatment...
-
Where would Ricky Ricardo go to get inoculated against this pandemic?
Sadly... there is no known cure.. at least for now... perhaps someday.
Do you love mythology? Mythology movies?
As a kid they were among my favorites... I can't say for sure I have seen Hercules... but I think so...
I don't know how well Ricky could do against a Hydra.... but I am not sure that is the monster of the day he was up against anyway... The more I think about it... It is likely more a one-headed but MULTI-armed critter... a la....

Poor Ricky... I don't think he knew WHAT hit him...
And PS... I NEED to get the now playing guide... but I am such a lame brain about checking tv schedules... I would likely forget to read it until I was a month behind.... However... an autographed copy would be a collector's item for sure. :-)
I should be greedy though and ask you to get EVERYBODY'S signature... and then in my old(er) age I can look back and say... I once used to "ramble" with some of these very fine folks... and a few other fine folks whose faces I may never know... but who still had a lot of fine (and funny) things to say... those were the days. (Is it just me or did some sappy violin music just start playing in the background?)

And with that, my friends... my attitude must be put back in it's little cage now... lest I get on my soapbox and go off on a rant... and have to be led out of here for disturbing the peace.
A very pleasant evening folks.. and best wishes for a happy day tomorrow...

Are you watching "The Brain That Wouldn't Die"??
I SHOULD be... it does seem to be a fitting title given the times we are living in at the moment. but alas... I didn't know that it was on until my husband started watching something else... tough break for me... (I should try harder to hide that remote control before he gets home from work) :-)
Bette's Regina is a fierce one to reckon with.
She does seem to be able to carry off a role like that very well... consider TLF officially on my ever-growing wanna see list.
What we battle is small...very small indeed.
Yes.. small.. but still able to multiply rapidly and cause tremendous problems if left unchecked... kind of like germs. (do you think this could be a pandemic?)
-
HELLO Miss Maven!!! Condolences on your too full PM box... ( I just cleared out a few of those myself today... we can call it "Spring Cleaning")
that just depends on what you're farmin'
Well.. I think whatever has been getting farmed around here lately... there is an over abundant and seemingly never ending supply of fertilizer... which may explain the bumper crop.
The Little Foxes. Great movie by Bette Davis
Hard to believe I know... but I don't think I've ever gotten to see that one. ( I know.. what a surprise). I am going to have to add it to my list now for sure...
you surely denigrate the species of foxes. Foxes are sly, smart. They?re great. Now if you mentioned hyenas, or vultures or some other jackal that picks at the bones and leftovers left behind...then ya got yerself a metaphor.
I think you are right.. I hearby humbly apologize to all foxes everywhere now and for all eternity... Perhaps instead I should have said something like a Wile E. Coyo... wait!! That Jackie Favell stole my thunder... COYOTES in the chicken coop.. THAT is a more likely "varmit"... :-)
But maybe instead of farming... we ought to talk... baseball... (PS.. this was supposed to be my reply to your PM from earlier today... but I could not get it to "send" due to your current "overload" status... so.... Here is what I was going to send you... now for all the world to see )
*This just in: There is NO joy in Mudville folks... The Mighty Casey didn't strike out.. Instead he just got all his homeruns taken away during the game... because the other team was a VERY poor sport AND the umpire was BLIND.*
Sad but true... but even so...try to keep you "chin up" .. Because remember... "There's NO crying in baseball." :-)
-
(Not to mix too many metaphors here....)
If Ricky IS gone forever... This is probably the only known case of an entire Chicken coop being removed because of all the (many, numerous, prolific, unfathomable, and inexcusable number of) foxes.
PS... I am not a gambling woman... but what are the odds... THIS thread will still be here... even five minutes from now....
-
chatting here with you good people has been a mighty gracious thing.
Tis YOU who are gracious dear gal... a very pleasant evening to you, Miss Goddess. :-)

Run Away!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha and.... HA!!!

Oh my golly Molo... THAT is the funniest thing I have seen since... oh... who am I kidding.. I have seen a lot of FUNNY things today... but that is the funniest ha ha thing I have seen in a long while!!!
Look at the bones indeed!! Ha.
I have several friends from my old high school days... and we all stayed up very late once about _________ years or so ago (fill in the blank if you dare) ... just to watch THAT part of this movie...THANKS for making me feel OLD now... Ha.
In fact... it was SO long ago.. I don't remember ANYTHING else about the film.. (except maybe the Knight that kept losing his arms and legs.. etc and still kept on fighting)..... but after we watched it, my friends and I spent the next YEAR going around saying "run away" to each other...
It's just a harmless little bunny.... sure... tell me another one!!!

PS... Little Miss Butterscotchie.. the DUKE... saying THAT word????? Perish the thought!!!!! :-)
-
Rhoda's a nimble girl, though, she can pick her way through the rubble. Through anything, really.
Yes.. but she DID seem susceptible to lightening.... maybe we will just have to wait for the next thunderstorm...
In the meantime... maybe we can find another piano stool for the Movieman to sit on...
Chris.. how do you feel about playing a duet with little Rhoda?? She only seems to know one song though... but she can play it over and over... and over...
-
I've actually watched THE QUIET MAN while eating green cupcakes on more than one occasion
Sounds like a LOVELY way to enjoy both.... the movie... and the cupcakes...
-
with Rhoda you'd have to promise her the whole cake
I guess we could try tricking her and tell her she left her tap shoes downstairs in the cellar... and then when she went to check... we could lock the door... but I don't think the renovations are finished yet from when LeRoy took his last nap down there the other day....
-
Tell her there is cake in the kitchen
Better yet.. tell her her mother wants her.... It's time for her vitamins and juice...
-
Isn't she still hogging the piano bench??
I keep pushing her off... but she keeps climbing back up there... Don't worry... to borrow from the 90's remake of The Mummy... Nasty little "gals" like her ALWAYS get their comeuppance in the end...
-
Everyone pull up a chair
As long as I don't have to sit in the little pink chair....for little gals.... I am saving THAT seat for Rhoda...

(had to edit my post... sorry I forgot to "downsize... did not want to disappoint my tutor) Ha.

Hiya Little Miss Butterscotch...
did your kidling celebrate St. Patty's day with you and your loverly husband?
No... not much of a "ST. Pat's" day around here.. I even forgot what day it was unitl later in the morning when the kidling says... Hey mom... Happy St. Patrick's day...
We had a big "awards ceremony" this evening for the scouting troop that the kidling is a part of... and as the coordinator for that I was busy most of the day here at home and then I left and had to get things set up this afternoon... And then most of the evening was the meeting and ceremony... so THAT was my St. Patrick's day...
I even missed the Quiet Man... boo hoo... I need to watch it tonight before I call it a day, just so I can feel like ME again!! ha.
I haven't seen McClintock in a couple of months... but I still recall all the fun we had chatting that one up one night... a LONG time ago... I will look forward to seeing those screencaps, little missy.
Have a happy St. Patty kinda night. :-)
