I lost my beloved big teddy bear in transit on a trip, and it was never found. That happened to me once when we moved from Alabama to Alaska (my dad was in the army) I had a big pink bear w/ bright colored circles on his chest that my uncle had given me when I was 7 or 8. (He was one of many little stuffed buddies that I used to have that all sat on my bed but "Sammy" was my favorite.) The movers packed up all our stuff when we got ready to leave for AK...and when we got where we were going...NO SAMMY! All my other little critters were accounted for..but he was nowhere to be found...and like I said...he was my FAVORITE! Well...I was very sad that he had been lost. And then....( cue sappy Christmas music) that following Christmas my mom was opening up all the boxed decorations...and lo and behold...there was Sammy all smashed down in the middle of the garland and such!! (doofy army movers) We still joke about that to this day (though poor old Sam is long gone now) Whenvever my mom or I can't find something we are looking for, we will ask each other..."Did you look in the Christmas box?" Oh...I need to get off this silly computer. I only stopped by to look up a Brownie recipe...and then I just had to take a peekl in here and saw your posts.... Best Wishes Miss Barb ( to you and your mom) for a VERY Merry Christmas!!! :-) Merry Christmas to all!!

Did you ever rub your newborn with axel grease, lol Not that I can recall! My daughter saw that part yesterday and about came unglued..."MOM! They are putting jelly all over that naked baby's bottom!!!" She was almost beside herself. :-)

I'll bring live iguanas so you can really see the color up close and personal EEEEEK! (That is the sound you will hear just before I run screaming from the building.) :-) No live demos, if you please....a picture is worth a thousand words..and it will keep my blood pressure from skyrocketing too. :-)

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too, Dan.

Oh...now....I am sure she just mispelled it...of course she (and children everywhere) really meant to say giving. (oh..I am having a hard time keeping a straight face as I am living w/ the 5 year old version of Sally herself ,I am sure!)

In gradeschool in Texas, this movie was regularly scheduled viewing during class. Hi April...it has been a very long time since I last saw The Alamo...I can't say that I was all that fond of it, but I may not have given it a fair shake....I think that whole historical story is just so...oh...depressing, I guess, and I am sure that colored my judgement on the film... I bet it if I were writing this in Texas folks would be out lookin' for a rope for me right now!! :-) But, maybe I will give it another try as I really cannot recall too many specific details about the film or storyline (other than the obvious ones)

HI Wendy... I am curious if he was the conscience from the beginning, or if it was "thrust upon him" at this point in the movie....It seemed to me that he might have suddenly "seen the light". This is only my take on it (for what it's worth)....and I don't want to give you too much in the way of a spoiler...but it seemed to me that Pedro and the young Kid both were "taught" to respect the Good Book and it's teachings and had more or less fallen away from their upbrining until this event brought them back around to seeing "the light"....and I think Bob's "seeing of the light" was a more sudden thing than the others as he had nearly zero respect for the book or it's teachings or its author....until.... But I agree w/ you that Pedro was a voice of conscience...and I don't recall him (or the kid either) ever once complaining about their sworn duty...Bob had the same determination as they did....he just wasn't as "quietly resolved" about it. Hope you get your recordings made!! I am off for the last minute few little things...and of course...some vhs tapes and kleenex...(I wasn't kidding...my box is almost empty!!) If I don't talk to you sooner....Have a very MERRY one!!! :-)

Woohoo!! (pardon my little happy dance, folks) OK...here goes... What classic film features a young woman on a honeymoon cruise w/ a rich playboy where she orders a specific kind of soup (for the first time) and ends up regretting it for most of the rest of the cruise as both the food (along w/ the waves) cause a violent gastronomical reaction. Name the film, and you get bonus points if you can also name the soup

Merry Christmas Grey Guy....from what I hear those little cousins are going to have quite a merry one thanks to a certain someone and his brother.... PS...I finally found the perfect hat for you: :-)

Well, this should make you feel better: due to the "economy", our local 99 cent store now charges $1.49. Ah....the tightfistedness in me feels better now...thanks. :-) Speaking of dry, with the past few days icy weather, you could oil me with olive oil and set me out there in that desert to bake---anything but this Oh MY! That sounds like an episode of the Food Network gone awry!! I know what you mean though...along w/ the stock that I should take out in Kleenex....I should also give the Vasoline Intensive Care folks a closer look as well. :-) Tis the season!!

loved the music in the Wayne version. The Streets of Loredo is such an evocative song, even before I saw (bits of) this movie it made me get all choked up. It has such a haunting little melody....It is stuck in my brain...I woke up w/ it in my head...I don't mind a bit. :-) April...nice observation on the sand...I never thought of it that way...but it would not surprise me at all..

Hiya April... I am also hoping I can record the 1936 version, since I may not be home I will have to program it which will be a neat trick with all these new wires I have to untangle. Well good luck w/ that one, little missy. I imagine it would be a "technophobic" nightmare for someone like me....I am just hoping I can figure out how to program the vcr (I think I can, I think Ican) so I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to start recording...(we are an hour earlier on start time here) I am also wanting to get it figured out before tonight so I can record The Cheaters...I keep seeing folks talking that one up and we will be at church tonight when it is on, so I am going to try to get this thing figured out. (I also need to make a mad dash to the DOLLAR store--oh..I am so disgruntled over having to pay that extra penny ever since you told me you all have 99cent stores there!!!) :-) I only had one tape and I used it for T3GF yesterday... :-) I will look forward to you posting the stories from Harry Carey Jr....I think that would have been a fun time working on that project...except...maybe for being in the desert...I am not a HEAT lover..I likely would have melted. That book sounds really nice...I think it is always fun to hear stories about stars that are so personable. I don't know too much about him, but from the way you make him sound, I bet he is a very nice guy.

Hey look at that...I never looked (or sounded) so good!! I decided earlier (just to keep this thread on track) that if I could not be Doris I would want to be Judy Garland just so I could dress/sing/and play the harp like she did tonight in The Good Old Summertime....not that great a version of that story...but I liked her singing in it... But now after seeing this pic of D. D. oh...decisions, decisions!!! :-) -
