  2. Hey Miss G...The Searchers was just on (on (AMC) (Oh-I hated the commercial interruptions! Someday I hope I will get this one on tape or find the DVD) I missed the first half of it...but caught the ending....my poor husband's been trying to get me ready to go to Walmart for the last 45 minutes!! I kept saying...it'll be over soon--just a few more minutes :-) He finally gave up and ran to the gas station first just to get that chore out of the way....he will be back soon and then we'll have to go shopping. He's a very patient man--he has to be to put up with me! :-) But I just had to make it to the end of the movie so I could hear Ethan say...."Let's go home Debbie". Oh -sob- I had my tissue all ready!!! Now I gotta go buy some laundry soap, toilet paper, and dog food. Seems a little anti-climactic compared to watching the end of that movie...And it will put me way behind on getting my Saturday chores all wrapped up I guess...but I never mind finding an excuse to do that! :-)

  4. make that double fudge I like the way you think!! :-) I will end my day with this post so I can go to sleep with visions of double fudge chocolate cake dancing in my brain!! (In the morning I am sure I will be at least 2 pounds heavier--all I have to do is THINK of food and it finds its way to my waistline!) 'Night all!! :-)
  5. *13,000+ posts.* WoooHooo!! We should have a cake!!! (may I suggest chocolate???) :-) Congrats April!!
  6. Thanks for the recommendation....I looked on the TCM database and it's not scheduled anytime soon but I will keep an eye out for it....since I started posting on here, I have an ever-growing list of "movies I want to see someday" and I will add this to it. (PS--I always enjoy seeing Cesar Romero--so that makes it even more a "want to see"!) :-) PS--Brendan--love the Calamity Jane--this is one of my all time fave Doris Day's....I haven't seen it in a VERY long time, but I always enjoyed it. :-)
  7. Hello Susan. I don't recall for sure if we've ever spoken before, and I just came across this thread for the first time. But I wanted to tell you how much I admire your courage. I know this is a difficult time for you but you seem to me to have a good attitude about the days ahead and that will certainly count for a lot in the great scheme of things. (I think I would go for the comedies and musicals too-- whenever I could! Laughter is a wonderful outlet.) At the risk of sounding melodramatic-- if I too may speak from my heart--I want you to know something. Last night at a very late hour I was awake and praying for people at random as God laid them on my heart. And suddenly I felt compelled to start naming the names of many I have seen posting here on this website. I don't mean to sound "mystical" or anything like that....this was just one of those times when I felt the need to pray. There are so many names I see on here in a day's time and although I can't recall specifically if your name was among those I prayed for specifically, I did ask God's blessings on all those who are posting here--.and that surely included you. So please know now that I will continue to pray for you....this time by name. And I see from what I've read here tonight that others are lifting you up as well. I wish you the very best in this new chapter of your life. There are so many new technologies and so many reasons to hope for a good outcome. I pray God will bless you with his peace and his strength and that the doctor's will all have the skill and knowledge they need to help you meet and beat this thing head on! Sincerely, Kathy (Rohanaka)
  8. Heartache City.....Lights 23 so far if I counted right??? The Secret Garden of Evil Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round Up Time in Texas Chainsaw Massacre At Central High Noon Blue AppLes Girls in Chain (s) Gang (s) of New York Stories of Lost Souls at Sea Wolf Man for All Seasons of the Heartache City Lights.....
  9. These would be my #1 choices for absolute favorite roles for my absolute favorite actors... John Wayne--Sean Thornton--The Quiet Man Maureen O'Hara--Mary Kate --The Quiet Man Gary Cooper--Alvin York--Sgt York Cary Grant--Mortimer Brewster--Arsenic and Old Lace Jimmy Stewart--Ransom Stoddard--The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Ingrid Bergman--(I can't think of the character's name right now)--Notorious Greer Garson--Elizabeth Bennet--Pride and Prejudice Judy Garland--Dorothy--The Wizard of OZ Charleton Heston--Judah Ben Hur--Ben Hur Peter O'Toole--Lawrence--Lawrence of Arabia Katherine Hepburn--Eleanor--A Lion in Winter I know I am leaving someone out....and there are a few I would like to list more than one film--but that would likely go on and on forever...so will stop with these for now. :-)

  11. Seeing these Alice Faye posters is making me think I need to make a point of seeing some of her films sometime. I have heard her name mentioned often, but must confess I can't recall ever seeing any of her films.
  12. More great selections! Where do you find these??? I have to say out of this recent batch...my favorite has to be Oklahoma. The others are far more artistic...but I think the simple one is just making me nostaligic because it reminds me of the artwork on the posters we had at my school (a bazillion years ago) when a friend of mine was in that play. It's always been near the top of my list of favorites.
  13. The Secret Garden of Evil Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round Up Time in Texas Chainsaw Massacre At Central High Noon Blue Apples..... (If I counted right, we've got eight titles linked together here.) We had a good chain going with those...but "Apples" has got me stumped...unless I want to cheat and take the "s" off of the end and make it Apple Dumpling Gang or something.... Film Fatale...you may not have read far enough down on the earlier posts to see what we had going on today. :-) So here's what I suggest....I will leave it up to the next post-er...whoever wants it...and you can either pick it back up with "apples" OR start a new chain using Film Fatale's "Tropic Thunderbird" ....or we can just resume with everybody doing their own stuff individually...I'm open to any of the three. So it's up to the next post-er...take it away!
  14. I was hoping someone would come along and post some more pics....they're really fun to look at--but didn't want to "beg" :-) Very nice collection--some are familiar--but you've also got a nice selection of "lesser seen" posters too. :-)
  15. And for those keeping score at home---so far we now have: The Secret Garden of Evil Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round Up Time in Texas... ...Chainsaw Massacre..... (for some reason I got all the yicky film titles today) :-)
  16. #6 Hey Coop-you're supposed to "hold" my hand not yank it off....and for cryin' out loud....you could at least try to smile a little while they're takin' pictures....After all YOU asked ME to dance-- the least you could do is pretend to like it!! :-)
  17. April--you've got a lot of great pics going on here! I especially like all the "behind the scenes" and the ones with Stewart giving autographs. You have quite the resource when it comes to good clips and pictures.
  18. Moving and job hunting all at the same time...oh my! That's a lot all at once I am sure! Best wishes....And if you can't find your laser....I can only say...."May the force be with you!" :-) (I think that's the first time I've ever actually said that to anyone!) :-)
  19. Yep--Sally was in this one. Jack Elam, even when his motives were pure, he couldn't help but look like he was up to no good! Ha! True---so true. Though I can't remember seeing him in too many stories where his motives were said to be "pure" :-) Message was edited by: rohanaka
  20. At the end, when Robert Osborn came on, (If I remember right--it was after 2 am) :-) I think he said that Mitchum more or less had his choice of roles...I could certainly have seen him in Douglas' role and the other way around w/ Douglas too. But Widmark was pretty good where he was at as far as I could tell. (I'm not as familiar with his work.) And our old buddy Jack Elam was a surprise ---I kept waiting for him to be some sort of "ne'er do well"...I don't know what his character was all about at the beginning--or even if he was in the beginning part of the movie ( I only saw him from the point where he nearly drowns as a stow away under the wagon) but from that point on he surprised me by acting like what he said he was--(I wasn' t sure if he was really a "snake oil" type preacher or a real one).--I kept waiting for him to pull some sort of stunt. Maybe that's because his appearance was so very "Elam-ish" . :-)
  21. Very creative--it's kind of like that whole 'Dreamscape...Cape Fear" thing....so if you can make it work, I say go for it!!
