  1. As of 1/19/2014 it is not working again. I get this: HTTP STATUS 404 - /search/ type. status report message. /search/ description. The requested (/search /) is not available Apache Tomcat/ 6.0.35 Can TCM just be kind and tell us the Search function will be down for awhile? I hate it when I have to beg someone to tell me what is going on with a website.
  2. Lately, when I try to search for a movie, actor, etc. on the Search: TCMDb at the top of the TCM Home Page, it never comes up with a result. It just shows a blank page where the result should appear. However, if I Google something with TCM in the request box (i.e. Casablanca TCM), I go directly to what I am looking for on the TCM Database. Why is this happening? I KNOW Casablanca is in the TCM Database, but it foes not appear in a Search on the actual TCM website. This happens on laptop, phone, or iPad.
  3. Thank you! I didn't previously click on the arrow to get the plot synopsis. This person who was the murderer wasn't even in the book. Also, no monkey in the book. ( Sorry about the double post. The first one didn't show up right away.) Edited by: cherie62 on Jul 26, 2012 2:22 PM
  4. Thank you! I guess I didn't see that I had to click on the arrow to read the plot summary. By the way, the film plot is almost NOTHING like the book. No monkeys in the book, nor was the murderer that's listed.
  5. I'm in a book club that's reading The Leavenworth Case. We know, from IMDB, that in the 1936 film version, the murderer was changed from the person who did it in the book. Who was the murderer in this film? Thank you.
  6. Thank you, slaytonf! So it's an American movie poster, but not an American actress. I hadn't seen the film in 8 years or so, and the details were a bit fuzzy. Thank you for the info.
  7. Thank you, MissGoddess! Do you remember the name of that actress whose face was plastered on the side of the building?
  8. Can anyone help name this film? It's a mystery or noir, set in a foreign country ( not US or England). At one scene, there's a hotel ( or apt. house) that has the entire side plastered with a movie poster. This is a poster for a US film, with a US actress' face on it. (A famous actress - Lana Turner? Marilyne Monroe?) In the film, the bad guys shoot their gun from a window behind the poster. I think the gun is shown sticking out from the poster actress' lips. Please tell me the name if you know it. Thanks!
  9. I need help finding a movie title. It was in black and white, probably late 1940's through 1950's timeframe. The wife is rich, and the husband has many affairs. To work on their marraige, the wife buys an isolated old ranch in a small desert town. They are fixing it up, and don't even have a phone in the house. They must drive to a small general store to make phone calls. The husband still is seeing a woman on the side, but they plot the wife's murder so they can have money to start a new life together. The husband sneaks off alot to the general store to call her. The wife's murdered on the ho
  10. It seems to be working now. All last week and yesterday morning, it didn't work. I guess they were doing something to the website then. ( Just wish they'd let us know, :-) .
  11. There's a problem with accessing the movie database info if your browser is Safari, which Mac, iPad, iPhone, etc. uses. When you enter the movie title in the Search TCMDb area, your movie title/date does come up. However, after you click on that title, you either get a white page full of "code", or an error message: "a zombie ate this page". On my Mac, when I use Firefox, I have no problem. I do want to be able to access the database from my iPad, which doesn't give me a Firefox option. When will they fix this? If you are having a similar problem, send TCM an email stating this. I did. If they
  12. I'll leave the DVR as it is and see what it records at 4:15 a.m. . Maybe I'll be lucky and "Stella Dallas" will air on time.
  13. I had set up an email reminder for "Stella Dallas" showing 4:15 AM tonight (0n the 3/10 schedule). I was sent this email by TCM: "You asked us to remind you that "Stella Dallas (1937)" is playing on TCM. It has been cancelled or rescheduled. Please check the www.tcm.com schedule for more showings." Why pull it at the last minute? And why wasn't this changed on this website yet?
