  1. The two you mentioned...are the faves of mine that followed!!!....what about Porter's?...So in Love, Begin the beguine, I Love you Samantha, At Long lasst love...easy to love...night and day....those were the songs!!...
  2. But you know, classics...Lena has always been a favorite of mine...so classy, elegant, beautiful, with a great voice....but Ava's own voice was OK...I don't know why they made the decision of dubbing her voice...I saw That's Entertainment III, and there they compared the dubbed version of the singing parts of Showboat with the ones with Ava's voice, and frankly I preferred the latter....it's a mystery for me why they made that decision...Ava was great in the picture...and Lena would have been too... My favorite Kern tunes are: The way you look tonight, all the things you are and I won't dance....
  3. And we have a winner!!! Mr. Antar...He's entlited to continue with the game...the ball is yours antar!! Classics..if you haven't seen the 1937 version of the movie, with the great Stanwyck in it...this is another one for your list!!

  5. No...but you're guesses have been good...This one should do it...if not, keeo trying Hint N? 6: Marriage Break-Up (because of "class" differences)

  7. Not that...but you're close!!! Hint N? 4: Mother
  8. Hello classics....wonderful film...but NO... Hint N? 2: Birthday Party
  9. Another point in common classics...I love jerome Kern's music above all things....just as much as Cole Porter's... And that bad DVD transfer of "Till the Clouds..", would it be by any chance the Madacy edition??...'cos I have dvd's and VHS of that Company...and they're horrible...but very cheap!!!
  10. Hi guys, I've just returned home... Well let's start a new round.... Hint N? 1: Low class
  11. Only one thing to add....LTL, thanks very much for creating this wdrful game & thread!!!... I have had so much fun...and learnt too!!! Three cheers for her!!! One other thing..I've noticed that TCM has shown some Paramount 30s movies, whose rights are owned by Universal, : Design for Living, Smiling Lieutenant, Trouble in paradise....maybe on lease terms??...hopefully they could borrow Midnight and show it,,,it would be great to get the most of people to enjoy that wonderful film...have fun pals!!!
  12. Well guys.... The movie is the 1939 marvellous comedy "Midnight", screenplay by Billy Wilder, Charles Brackett (same writing team of the same year's Ninotchka-MGM), directed by Mitchell Leisen, starring: Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, John Barrymore, Mary Astor, Francis Lederer, Rex O'Malley, Hedda Hopper....Claudette is a showgirl who lost all her money in the casino at montecarlo, arrives in Paris without a "sou",...meets Ameche...eventually, flees from...she crashes in a lavish party given by hostess Hopper....and Barones Czerny is born!!!!...It's hilarious....one of the best comedies ever...can't wait it to be released on dvd...Universal owns the rights
  13. Ok...but, before a LAST BUNCH of hints....OK??? Hints N?9, 10, et al: Paramount Picture; a tongue-in-cheek comedienne who liked to be filmed from one of her profiles only; the film was released in the "magic" year of filmmaking; Billy Wilder wrote the screenplay; the actors danced "La Conga"; and the cab driver was hungarian.....Know it?
  14. What are you talking about classics??...everyone of us it's not supposed to have seen EVERY movie made !!! Even a lifetime wouldn't be enough!!!....Relax!!...I could watch this particular movie two or three years ago, for the first time (i bought the vhs at amazon)...and I've heard & read about lots of times....I've been watching it every now & then since....
  15. don't give up...'cos if you haven't seen it...at least you must have read about it!!!...Don't go!!...we can keep goin'...make a guess...and I give another clue!!
  16. No...where's a fake baroness in Dinner??? Concentrate classics...maybe it's just like me & Cool Hand Luke, the other day, and you haven't seen this one...and if it's so....you MUST see it!!!! Hint N? 8: party crasher
