I taped "The Smiling Lieutenant" from TCM some years ago, it was leased from Universal by TCM, just like other Paramount goodies like "Design for Living", "Trouble in Paradise" and "Love Me Tonight", which have been scheduled in these last years. I had the luck of obtaining DVD-R copies of many early Paramounts from a Private Collector ("One Hour With You", "The Love Parade", "Playboy of Paris", "Monte Carlo", "High, Wide and Handsome", "The Big Pond", "Sweetie", "Honey", etc.) and it would be fantastic if Universal would restore and release these gems on DVD. -

Welcome De Varenne (nice handle, it reminds me of an excellent French film I saw decades ago, "La Nuit De Varennes"), sadly I could not find a photo of Mary Maguire online.

I feel that she could be Mary Maguire. She's in a scene with another actor and Ann Sheridan, and looking up Ann's films from the period 1937-1938, I think it can be "Alcatraz Island" (1937) in which Ann plays the governess of the character played by Mary Maguire, the teenage daughter of a wealthy. I noticed that Mary Maguire starred in many B pictures between 1937-1942.
