Thanks Therealfuster...I have not seen "Tabu", but I've read that there similarities between both films, especially when it comes to the "documentary-type" footage (without actors) featured in "White Shadows..." . Tabu is a documentary, isn't it?

Besides Robert Osborne's Oscar Book is one of my fave readings!
-
Just figured it 'cos Gary Cooper won an A.A. for it and it seemed to me that it was a much popular film in its day than his other work (that has been more appraised in recent decades) like "Ball of Fire", "Bringing Up Baby", "The Big Sleep", etc.

Pretty exciting things going over here!
I have the book "The Films of Fredric March", were "Manslaughter" is reviewed, when I get home today I'll try to post any useful information. OK?

Gigi, all the way. I used to like very much "My Fair Lady", but just as it happened to me with "The Sound of Music" and "The Wizard of Oz", I watched it so many times, that I finally grew tired of it.
As far as I can recall, Audrey Hepburn did "Gigi" on Stage, but Leslie Caron was chosen to play her on film. On the other hand, I'm not certain that Julie Andrews played Eliza Doolittle on Stage, but I'm sure she wanted to play her on screen and Audrey Hepburn was chosen for the role.

It's "A Letter to Three Wives", just like you wrote it, starring Jeanne Crain, Linda Darnell, Ann Sothern, Kirk Douglas et al. It was released in 1949 by 20th Century Fox and it's available on DVD.

I'm sad, sad, sad...she was too young to die. It's not fair. She was lovely in all those laste '50s and '60s movies.
My condolences to her family.

Well thanks Lolite! I saw that movie long ago. Here it's 2:13 AM and I cannot sleep, 'cos I took a nap in the evening! The world is so quiet at this hour of the morning...I've just came back from a walk, it's so warm outside (71?F)...mmm....let's see:

Another GREAT romantic comedy is "The More The Merrier" with Jean Arthur and Joel McCrea, their chemistry is perfect. I wished they had been paired in more films.

Thanks for the kind words, pals.

You are right Ven I forgot the scene from "A Night in the Opera", when that ship's cabin gets full of people...

Could've been in "They Won't Forget"?

When I arrived to the Boards in the year 2003, I was eager to exchange all kinds of data/opinions I had "inside my mind" since ever, reading all kinds of books (biographies, scholar-type, decade analysis, films in review, Hollywood-Babylon type, all types). There was no-one I could talk with about classic-films and the Classic Era, at that specific moment, at least in person.
Then, when I created this thread in December 2003 -it seems so long ago- the intentions were different, I thought it as an "amusing" instance of exchanging views (as "adults"), about what had been said in many books about the lives of the stars, trying to do it in a respectful way, at least I intended that. I even tried to change the original title to "Boudoir Secrets", which seemed more "classy".
It was also intended that the person stating something must quote the source. There was no intention to bash anyone, sadly much people find pleasure in that.
Then things went out of hand and I regretted creating it. I wish it could be deleted now.

These are certainly good news Lynn, thanks for letting us know.
