Yeah, a great topic!
Through the years I have read a lot about Deanna Durbin, Universal's highest paid star, the one who saved that Studio from bankruptcy, the pretty girl with the voice of an angel, the star who retired permanently from the screen all of a sudden in 1949.
I was pretty intrigued by her screen persona, but never had watched any movie of hers...until I got the DVD Edition of the "Sweetheart Pack", which includes six of Deanna's movies.
Result: I fell totally under the spell of nice and good natured Deanna, her screen persona is one of the nicest among Hollywood's girls'/teenagers'. Her films are great and highly enjoyable.
For me Deanna was Hollywood's best kept secret!!

The Cowboy and the Lady? Or is it the other way round?

Now that it has been scheduled on TCM, upon all the positive reviews of fellow posters, I will for sure watch it once more!

I agree totally concerning "Counsellor at Law", John Barrymore's performance is brilliant. When I bought the DVD edition in March 2004 and saw it, I was so pleased by my purchase that I wrote a brief review here at the Boards, in the "Your Favorites" Forums. I am so happy that TCM scheduled it!!

I agree with you concerning some north-american lawyers. In my country nothing of the sort exists. Really, some "cases"/claims in the Legal U.S. System are too far-fetched, like the one you mention.
By the way, I prefer legal counseling/advice than participating in trial/court/tribunal cases, I don't like the latter at all.

Hi Mary Lou....
Clue # 4: A Rooster

As far as I know it's a Paramount film and its rights belong to Universal, thus it does not belong to the TCM Library.

Yes Moviejoe, we've been waiting for years for "Letty Lynton"; apparently the problem with the films is that it was made without the permission of the author of the play/novel in which it is based upon, thus breaking the copyright laws. What I cannot understand is how this matter hasn't been settled in over 70 years!
As for "The Constant Nymph" I understand its rights reverted to the author of the novel upon which it's based, who never liked this version of her book, so she withdraw it from circulation in the 1950's. Her Estate has allowed occasional exhibitions at Museums.
BTW "Yellow Ticket" is a Fox Film.
