Great anecdote MovieJoe....Janet Leigh was classy and beautiful, as well as an excellent actress. I also liked her very much in "period" films, she looked great in such entertaining yarns as "Scaramouche", "Prince Valiant" and "The Vikings", and with Tony Curtis in the 1950's, they were one of the most attractive couples in the world. Her daughter Jamie Lee is a great person & a top comedienne (she was great in "A Fish Called Wanda" and "True Lies").
She deserves a tribute, by chance, the other day I watched her in "Jet Pilot" with John Wayne, amusing, nice pairing.

I searched the schedule ("up to 3 months in advance"), and Anthony Adverse is not scheduled. Maybe you can go to the "suggest a movie" area and "suggest" Anthony Adverse, 'cos this film belongs to TCM's Library. Wish you luck!

I liked "Scarlet Street" too, Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett and Dan Duryea are great!! One of the best Film Noir of the 1940's along with "Double Indemnity" and "Out of the Past"....and "The Big Sleep"...
Try to catch "Carrie"; it is a good version of Theodore Dreiser's work....Jennifer Jones & Olivier match well.
I have Kenneth Branagh's "Much ado About Nothing" on DVD, I bought on a bargain sale...In March!!! Haven't seen it yet!

Welcome Van, thanks for sharing your views and opinions with us, sadly I do not get the TV channels you mention, and I haven't seen Olivier or Joan Fontaine in the specific interviews/movies you mention...BTW, you were referring to Olivier's 1948 "Hamlet"? Weren't you?
I did see Olivier in "Richard III" and "Henry V", and he was truly great, I understand what you say about his talent.
I really hope, just as TCM is showcasing "Portrait of Jennie" nowadays, a great movie...that they'll make the arrangements to license the airing of "Letter from an Unknown Woman".
Great to have people like you at the Boards.
BTW, did you like Jennifer Jones in "Carrie" with Olivier?

Yes, grand idea "Encanto..", I would also feature Dolores del R?o, Ann Harding, Helen Hayes, Warren William, Nils Asther, Chester Morris, Grace Moore, Nancy Carroll, Sylvia Sidney, et al.
I agree about Ms. Chatterton's talents. I'd love to have the opportunity to watch a Paramount film of hers, while she was under contract there (1929-1932).
She was indeed excellent in "Dodsworth" (1936), one of THE landmark american films of all time, and she was great too in "Female" (1933) and "Frisco Jenny" (1933), both Warners, aired by TCM.
BTW, I also remember watching her in "Madame X" (1929), which is OK, but a little bit stagey and stiff, like many early talkies from 1928 and 1929, compared to later films from 1930 onwards.
