Loved this musical! Never saw it before, someone mentioned that the actor who played the dirt mean father in law in Fargo was in a musical and had to check it out. Harve Presnell was a wonderful romantic lead - weird to reconcile this role with the kicking a** & taking names role in Fargo, but then, I guess that's why they call it "acting". Enjoyed Debbie Reynolds in this almost more than Singin in the Rain- love her raucous laugh- fits the raw no frills character. Looking forward to it's next showing on TCM!

What an interesting question. Y'know, it's not so much the romantic numbers that I thought of initially, but numbers that would've seemed like a lot of fun to be part of Good Mornin' number in Singin in the Rain - looks like friends having a good time, I imagine an improvised goofiness -Seven Brides - the barn dance when everyone's tearing it up, trying to outdo the competition Partnered in one of the fabulous dances at the end of Kiss Me Kate by Tommy Rall or Bob Fosse (would especially like to give that scream & crawl around with Fosse) The "Mein Herr" number in Cabaret

Thanks to TCM, am getting to see many of the musicals mentioned on your list for the first time- had kind of shied away from this genre. Took a chance on a rainy day, and watched Kiss Me Kate and was so delighted and engaged, have been catching up on classic musicals ever since! Singin in the Rain would have to be the ultimate musical for me Kiss Me Kate Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Alexander's Ragtime Band Meet Me in St Louis A Star is Born (w/Judy Garland) Easter Parade Also love Howard Keel, Judy Garland, Ann Miller... Will have to check out some of the other titles ment
