My redo would be Wuthering Heights. I would keep the entire cast (which I love), however, I would stay true to the original story. I feel the film was much "kinder" than the book. What happens AFTER Cathy dies is so tragic and should have been included in the film. I realize movies aren't usually as good as books; however, I would have loved to see a longer film with more of the original story included.

My fav James Cagney movie is Love Me or Leave Me! Not only was he one of the greatest actors, he was a wonderful human being in real life.

I don't post much but read all the posts. I just wanted to say that lzcutter hit the nail on the head regarding this issue...that was beautifully, and respectfully, stated. Thank you! -

What's an Old Movie You'd Like to See Remade Today?
sixhalfdozen replied to Nica's topic in General Discussions
Let's not forget the current remake of The Women....another example of why remakes do not work. The Hollywood of today just doesn't compare with the "golden age" of Hollywood. -
Sellers was Clouseau and remakes should just stop
sixhalfdozen replied to WhyaDuck's topic in General Discussions
I agree, the remakes should stop and Sellers is the only Clouseau. However, I don't think that the Pink Panther "series" is geared toward viewers who appreciate good movies. My 12 and 14 year- old daughters love it and think Martin is hilarious. I think the targeted market is young teens. I had to endure the first one and now they are so excited for the next one...lucky me!! -
My observations of The Miracle of Morgan Creek

It IS a gem! I love all the characters and really can't decide who my favorite is. This is a wonderfully written movie...so witty. Absolutely love it! Does anyone know how it did at the box office when it came out? -

Thank goodness for Elvis day!!! At least I got to watch King Creole....that is the one Elvis movie I absolutely love and it is never on. I love the music, the storyline, the acting....all in all, I think it is an awesome movie.

I have to admit that I do like Hush Hush AND Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. They are not my favs, but I do watch whenever they are on. The rest of the cast in Hush was fantastic and I just love Agnes Moorehead....now that's an entirely new thread...lol!! P.S. Thanks for all the "welcomes!"

Welcome! I am pretty new too! I love all of her films, I can't think of any I don't like...I"ll try to pick my top ones, in no particular order: 1. Now Voyager -- that's an obvious one 2. Mr. Skeffington -- it always makes me cry -- you hate her, but feel sorry for her, but love her 3. The Little Foxes -- she was so absolutely rotten 4. Catered Affair -- she was older, but a great story, great acting 5. All About Eve -- great story 6. In This Our Life -- again, rotten and I always hated her, never felt sorry for her 7. All This and Heaven Too -- another tear-jerker, great story 8. Jezebel -- so proud of her in the end 9. The Letter -- she gets what she deserves in the end Ok, I guess I better stop...I could go on and on. I look forward to chatting with you again!

I did hear that Bogart did not want Audrey to have the role of Sabrina and was very insistent that it went to his wife, Lauran Bacall. When the studio said no, he was very, very upset and during filming was awful to Audrey. He was horrible toward her and extremely rude the entire time. Incidentally, wasn't Lauran in her early-twenties when he married her?

I just love him as well...didn't know anything about him personally...WOW! I bet his autobiography is an interesting read. He played a great cad in Rebecca. Actually, I can't think of anything I didn't like him in. What a sad ending to his life.

I am a "newbie" on the chat board so please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before! How does TCM come up with the movie schedule? I watch TCM everyday and it seems that some movies are shown over and over again, while others are rarely shown. Again, sorry if this is something everyone already knows! Thanks so much!
-
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I checked the info and it showed the brad pitt, etc. info. Too bad...I would have recorded that one. Thanks, again...I can relax now!!!!

Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that Mr. & Mrs. Smith was shown on TCM? I realize it was 5 AM; however, it worries me that a movie that current (and awful) would make its way to the schedule. I sure don't consider that movie a classic! Just wondering what anyone else thought. Thanks!!
