  2. Not sure if most would think of this as a straight crime drama or maybe noirish- Elmer Bernstein's theme music for The Man With The Golden Arm - I think it's jazzy, hard driving and noirish
  3. Love Peggy and I Love Is That All There Is - Best use of that fantastic song was in Scorsese's film After Hours.
  4. The Henry Mancini Peter Gunn theme music and the Fred Steiner Perry Mason ( Park Avenue Beat) theme song. Both so noirish and so 1950's sounding
  5. Frank singing One For My Baby. His drinking away his troubles at a bar about his lost love. The end of the affair. His version is so melancholy and noirish feeling. "So make it one for my baby and one more for the road".

  7. Good post Beth and well said. You got that right, I also hope nobody ever tries to remake Casablanca.
  8. I'm so glad that David Lean did a remake of Great Expectations. I like the original done in the early '30's but the '40's version starring John Mills, Valerie Hobson and Alec Guniness is a favorite. Love this beautiful version. One remake that I can do without is Breathless. The 1960 Godard version with Belmondo and Jean Seberg is brilliant, no remake could touch that one.

I'm not throwing peanuts at you, maybe unbuttered popcorn 😂 I wrote hoping you didn't mean a director remaking his own film, it was just your post was a little bit of an overstatement. I agree with your sentiments about remakes of mundane, crappy tv shows and movies
  11. I love Hitch's remake of The Man Who Knew Too Much. Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day. Hoping you are not including a director who remakes his own film when you say not a one, you hate remakes.
