G.Sondergaard won the first Oscar given for best support actress for this film. Olivia deHavilland was so young and beautiful in this one. Edmund Gwenn was great as the grandfather. They are after the grandfather's fortune that belongs to the boy.In fact the actress portraying the role made movie history with this part.
