Thanks Dan- I've seen this film so many times over the years that I actually humm the tune the music box played!!!!! As I've said in the past I'm better at quessing than asking but I'll give it a try.. This academy award winning actor who is the leading man in this film was mentioned by name twice in the 1949 novel that this film is based on. Marlon Brando was offered the role first but before he got a chance to accept the role, this academy award winning actor jumped in and got the role instead. What film and who was the Leading Man?

"If A Man Answers" with Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin has got to be the film that you're asking about. Sandra's mother in the film was blonde,beautiful and French and gave the advice to treat Bobby like a dog with kindness and affection to train him properly!!!! Fred is definitely correct. This film has been requested 100's of times. A very young Stephanie Powers was in this one too.

To anyone that is interested in the 21 questions thread, I can't complete it due to a family emergency but felt compelled to at least give you the answer and have the thread left open for someone else to continue. Nicholas Ray's JOHNNY GUITAR starring Joan Crawford,Sterling Hayden and Mercedes McCambridge is the film I was thinking about. There is so much that can be said about this film. If anyone is interested the are countless reviews on the internet about it. Scorsese and Truffaut both loved this film and if you get the chance to see it I thought it was great.
