First Movie SONG That Comes to Mind

Should I Surrender - Doris Day ( Rock is driving, Doris is next to him in a convertible) Lover Come Back Tab Hunter sings in a movie -
Correct Miles. Eddie Albert was first offered the role of Steve Douglas on My Three Sons before Fred MacMurray. He did accept the role of Oliver Wendall Douglas on Green Acres. Interesting that both characters had the last name Douglas. Good work Miles , your thread.

You said it Princess. Doris' clothes by Jean Louis were beautiful and I loved the jewelry. Such a funny film. I can't exactly remember what Sydney said but it was something to the effect that Doris and Rock were magnificent looking creatures. He also said he was embarrassed that he hadn't seen the film before viewing it for The Essentials because he had heard about how great the film was for years. Good work Princess, the thread is yours

Sorry Princess excellent guess but not them. Late 1950's film.
-
The actor and actress who starred in the film were both legendary and they were very good friends in real life.

An interesting coincidence, the actor who turned down the role on this very long running tv comedy did star about 5 years later in a TV comedy. His character's last name was the same as the character's last name in the role he had turned down. Both shows began in the 1960's.

The star of this long running hit show was not the first choice to play the lead although he was a famous leading film actor. Another actor known in films was offered the role but he wanted to focus on a film career. He was more of a supporting sctor, he had been Oscar nominated before this tv show. What was the tv show and who were the 2 actors ???
