Darn it! I thought of Barbara O'Neill and her neurotic role as Charles Boyer's wife in All This and Heaven Too and figured you were thinking of Gone With the Wind but got sidetracked yesterday and forgot about it. Good thinking Princess, Good question Swithin!

Is it possible that you could be thinking of 2 Gene Autry films. In Boots and Sadles Gene deals with a young teenage son of an Englishmen who has inherited his father's ranch and in Back In the Saddle, Gene is at a rodeo in NY ?
-
Your description sounds like it's Back In The Saddle. Hope that helps.

MissW, it always bothers me too, when Eddie never mentions TCM's site to discuss noirs. I've never been on facebook or twitter either and have no intention of ever going there. I do remember Eddie showing up on the bds. some years back, but cavegirl in many posts, bad mouthed Eddie so badly and then he never came back to the bds. I truly wish she/he hadn't done that character assassination of Eddie, that must be why he never returned.

Yes, Marnie is the film, Elizabeth Montgomery was offered the role first but had to turn it down because of Bewitched and Diane Baker played the role of Lil. Good work Chaya, your thread.

I watched a doc on Elvis on HBO. He mother was Jewish, a little known fact. When she passed Elvis had a Jewish Star and a Cross on the headstone. when Elvis died, they took his mother's headstone that Elvis specifically had there and replaced it with just the Cross on the headstone. They showed the headstone with the Jewish Star on it in the documentary. As far as Bing goes, I certainly don't know what was in his heart, BUT, he was good friends with Danny Kaye and Irving Berlin, both Jewish and I'm sure had many Hollywood Jewish friends who were actors, actresses, directors, song writers, etc. considering how many Jewish entertainers and talents were involved in the industry. Of the 3, Bing was probably the most difficult and confusing to figure out. So much conflicting information about him. As far as the 3 of them goes, Frank is my favorite singer.

Yes, but that's only 1/3 of the question. Who did play the part and what was the Hitchcock film ? Question and other clues are on the previous page.
-
The actress who was offered the role but had to turn it down wasn't known for her large screen film work although she did appear in a few. Besides her hit tv series that she turned down the Hitchcock film for, she did star in many made for tv movies.

The supporting actress who did play the role, was in 3 movies ( none were Hitch films) with an Oscar winning iconic actress. She played her daughter in 2 of the 3 movies.

Thanks, shutoo next This popular comedy tv show in the classic time period changed it's cast ( not the star though) and location and story line during it's long run. Some of the cast members were familiar faces from other shows and some went on to the other shows that were hits. Tv show and the star??

Never mind. I think I figured it out. The Millionaire was the tv show. The producer was Don Fedderson. Family Affair and My Three Sons are also hits he produced. His wife was Tido Fedderson. Her 1 film credit was The Ten Commandments. Their son was Mike Minor using his mom's maiden name of Minor. He was Steve on Petticoat Junction ????????????????
