Thanks, Lavender. That was an easy one since that series has been shown on one of the retro channels recently.
Now, a veteran actor who had a recurring role on a long running western TV series, had played the Frankenstein monster in three movies. Can you name the actor and the TV show? Bonus points for naming the three movies where he put on the monster make-up.
Glenn Strange put that Frankenstein make-up in Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein, Hoiuse of Dracula and House of Frankenstein. He had a recurring role in Gunsmoke

The 91-year-old, who was Oscar-nominated for her portrayal of a script reader who falls in love with a kept man, looks back on the film that she says "haunts my entire life."

Darn it! I thought of Barbara O'Neill and her neurotic role as Charles Boyer's wife in All This and Heaven Too and figured you were thinking of Gone With the Wind but got sidetracked yesterday and forgot about it. Good thinking Princess, Good question Swithin!

Is it possible that you could be thinking of 2 Gene Autry films. In Boots and Sadles Gene deals with a young teenage son of an Englishmen who has inherited his father's ranch and in Back In the Saddle, Gene is at a rodeo in NY ?

Anybody know the name of this Gene Autry movie? He and sidekick are in New York City at a rodeo I think. Autry works at a ranch that is owned by an Englishman. He sends his son to New York and Autry has to take him to the owner's ranch. Autry also gets involved with two sisters and they end up traveling together part of the way with a few adventures.
Thanks,
Your description sounds like it's Back In The Saddle. Hope that helps.

txfilmfan, you've brought up a sore point. It always bothers me when Eddie Muller, at the end of his Noir Alley "outro" , invites viewers to comment on either Twitter or Facebook.
I don't "do" Twitter or Facebook, and don't intend to. It definitely feels like a slight to those of us who like to post our ideas about movies on this forum, which after all is the home discussion page for Turner Classic Movies, and Eddie's program is part of Turner Classic Movies. He never even mentions this forum's existence.
And yet, I suspect that the noir fans who do choose to discuss Noir Alley here, as opposed to Twitter or Facebook, know their movies better, and go into more depth in the conversations about the films than T. or F.
Switching gears: did anyone notice that Eddie mentioned that Dennis O'Keefe had transitioned from light comedies and musicals in his earlier career to more serious, darker work? And that he compared that career switch to that of Dana Andrews? Was that a mistake? Did he mean Dick Powell?
MissW, it always bothers me too, when Eddie never mentions TCM's site to discuss noirs. I've never been on facebook or twitter either and have no intention of ever going there. I do remember Eddie showing up on the bds. some years back, but cavegirl in many posts, bad mouthed Eddie so badly and then he never came back to the bds. I truly wish she/he hadn't done that character assassination of Eddie, that must be why he never returned.

Yes, Marnie is the film, Elizabeth Montgomery was offered the role first but had to turn it down because of Bewitched and Diane Baker played the role of Lil. Good work Chaya, your thread.

And I'M more the Derek Flint fan, and primarily because James Coburn so closely resembles, well...ME!
(...or maybe the other way around, anyway)
I'm watching an episode of The Rifleman, James Coburn is in this one only he's billed as Jim Coburn! I think you're better looking than James, dargo

I've been holding off too waiting for someone else to answer.
I know there are other people on here who are able to participate. But people do get busy.
It's interesting because I knew it was Sonja Henie in the husband and wife but because I did the one before I wanted someone else to answer same with this retro question. If no one else answers, you should take it Princess, I did the one before.

I watched a doc on Elvis on HBO. He mother was Jewish, a little known fact. When she passed Elvis had a Jewish Star and a Cross on the headstone. when Elvis died, they took his mother's headstone that Elvis specifically had there and replaced it with just the Cross on the headstone. They showed the headstone with the Jewish Star on it in the documentary.
As far as Bing goes, I certainly don't know what was in his heart, BUT, he was good friends with Danny Kaye and Irving Berlin, both Jewish and I'm sure had many Hollywood Jewish friends who were actors, actresses, directors, song writers, etc. considering how many Jewish entertainers and talents were involved in the industry. Of the 3, Bing was probably the most difficult and confusing to figure out. So much conflicting information about him.
As far as the 3 of them goes, Frank is my favorite singer.

Is it Elizabeth Montgomery?
Yes, but that's only 1/3 of the question. Who did play the part and what was the Hitchcock film ? Question and other clues are on the previous page.
-
The actress who was offered the role but had to turn it down wasn't known for her large screen film work although she did appear in a few. Besides her hit tv series that she turned down the Hitchcock film for, she did star in many made for tv movies.

Excellent Miles, thorough and quick! Joey Bishop is the star and the Joey Bishop Show is the one. Great work Miles, thanks for all the info too, it's now your well deserved thread

The supporting actress who did play the role, was in 3 movies ( none were Hitch films) with an Oscar winning iconic actress. She played her daughter in 2 of the 3 movies.

This popular comedy tv show in the classic time period changed it's cast ( not the star though) and location and story line during it's long run. Some of the cast members were familiar faces from other shows and some went on to the other shows that were hits. Tv show and the star??
-
Never mind. I think I figured it out. The Millionaire was the tv show. The producer was Don Fedderson. Family Affair and My Three Sons are also hits he produced. His wife was Tido Fedderson. Her 1 film credit was The Ten Commandments. Their son was Mike Minor using his mom's maiden name of Minor. He was Steve on Petticoat Junction ????????????????
