I thought I recognized this film after a while. I watched some of it on DVD couple years ago but I didn't like it.

But Lav, I liked your telling it a lot better than watching it.🤗

It's "East Side West Side", 1949 with an All-Star MGM cast: Ava Gardner,  Barbara Stanwyck, James Mason and Van Heflin.

LOL, Thanks, yes in the telling in probably does sound better than the actual film, although I do like this film.  Yes, it is East Side, West Side. Barbara Stanwyck, James Mason,  Ava Gardner, Van Heflin, Cyd Charisse, Gale Sondergaard and Nancy Reagan. quite an impressive cast. I 've seen this one quite a few times on TCM and it was just shown a week ago on TCM.

Good work Princess, it's your thread :)

  2. The husband is visited by his ex mistress who wants to continue their affair . Meanwhile the wife is attending a party being given in honor of the man she and the young woman picked up at the airport. The husband never shows up to the party and the wife knows that the mistress has returned.,

I had seen The Brothers Rico several years ago and thought it was The Movie Dull. A friend who's a big fan of Phil Karlson says most Karlson aficionados are not crazy about this one. I always like Richard Conte, but this isn't one of his better vehicles. Not bad, just not very compelling.

I agree. Not a bad movie but while watching I thought it dragged on. I'm a fan of Richard Conte, in fact as a kid because of Ocean 11, I had a crush on him. this isn't his best. His character believing Kubik up until the almost end is not quite believeable for me. The performances by all I thought were very good but somehow it just dragged on and I agree King, not very compelling., although I did think the scenes of Gino brutally beaten and killed and Johnny knowing he's about to be killed were very dark and noirish, that happy ending did gave some relief from those scenes but I dont know, just didn't work for me. I'd give it a 6.5 to a 7 out of 10.

  6. I love Tyrone too. If you haven't seen Nightmare Alley, you should. The film stars Tyrone, Joan Blondell, Coleen Gray, Helen Walker and Ian Keith, all excellent in this  great noir and one of Tyrone Power's finest performances on screen. TCM has shown this Fox film, not often but it does show up once in awhile.  If you love Tyrone Power and noirs, this one is definitely for you.
