  1. LOL That was my next clue, about a great beat and it's easy to dance to but I was going to give it a 95 LOL. Yes, American Bandstand. My older sister and I watched the show after school. My sister taught me the lindy and the stroll and we use to dance while watching. What a great memory for me, hope for you too. The show certainly propelled Dick Clark's career and made him a media mogul. He also hosted $10,000 Pyramid. the regulars like Bob and Justine, they are also the couple I remember most, but they all received thousands of fan mail each week. Just regular teens that became somebody's, at least for a little while. Thanks for posting the video Miles. Great job, your thread.
  2. Bali Ha'i - performed by Juanita Hall - South Pacific song in a movie with the word Spring in the title
  3. The host of the show was an actor, producer and hosted another successful tv show besides the one the question is about.
  4. A very long running successful tv show
  5. Some Enchanted Evening - performed by Rossano Brazzi ( he was dubbed) - South Pacific Kathryn Grayson sings in a movie
  6. Thanks Princess. next They were probably the equivalent of what we call reality stars today, these were just average people who received thousands of fan mail letters each week and became celebrities with a certain age group when they appeared on a tv show in the classic time period. TV show and extra for naming some of these regulars on the show ??????????
  7. Correct, Lifeboat was the film. They were all co-stars since it was an ensemble cast. Tallulah and Mary Anderson had pneumonia, they were soaked thru with water an oil and Hume Cronyn suffered 2 cracked ribs during filming. Hume Cronyn writes about it in his autobiography. Guess you had to pretty tough to be in a Hitch film. Very good Fasterlitz your thread.
  8. Thanks. Fasterlitz next Besides the Birds, what Hitchcock film had rough conditions, so much so that a few became ill and one suffered an injury. Film and extra brownie points for the co-stars and what happened??
  9. Hitch was referring to Jane Wyman looking unglamourous compared to Marlene Dietrich in Stage Fright.
  10. Edmond O'Brien, tv show Sam Benedict, he won Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the Barefoot Contessa and he was married to Olga San Juan ?????
  11. Fausterlitz, if you click on the first page of every thread, the OP explains how that thread is played. When it comes to threads like describe the movie, husband and wife, retro trivia and others whom ever guesses correctly gets to post the next question. You might want to read thru some of the threads to see past questions and responses to see how each is played. It won't take long for you to get the hang of it, I can already tell you'll be an excellent trivia player.
  12. Thanks Fausterlitzitz but it doesn't work that way, the thread is not open, the poster who guesses correctly gets the thread and decides whether they want it or pass it to make it open. Now, since I did the one before yours, I will pass the thread to give anyone else a chance to post one, the Thread is Open.
  13. Steamboat Bill Jr., the Buster Keaton film
  14. The Shadow of Your Smile - movie - The Sandpiper another Oscar winning song you love
  15. Very good Swithin, yes Gene Tierney and Oleg Cassini are the couple. Cassini was Jackie's designer and was named the Secretary of Style to the White House. He is credited for that pillbox hat Jackie wore and designed over 300 outfits for Jackie. Grace Kelly and Cassini were engaged, she broke the engagement when she decided to marry Prince Rainer of Monaco. Gene was one of my favorite actresses. She's was excellent as Laura in the famous noir. I thought her performance in Leave Her To Heaven was Oscar worthy and she was wonderful in The Razor's Edge and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, just to name a few of her starring roles. A film I also love is Son of Fury, The Story of Benjamin Blake. She does a hula dance that's great in the film. She was only 19 in that film,. She also had an affair with her co-starTyrone ( lucky) Gene was not only a great beauty, she was a talented actress and a pleasure to watch. Years ago Robert Osborne said that Gene was his favorite actress and I can see why. It's your thread Swithin
  16. Star, it's Fasterlitz's thread, of course they should continue to give clues. I've already posted their answer was correct. Fasterlitz, it's your thread to continue to give clues. Clues are given usually once a day if possible until the correct answer is guessed.
  17. She was a very beautiful actress from a well- to - do family. She had quite a few affairs with some very famous men and one with a man who became very powerful. She was Oscar nominated for Best Actress and was considered an A list actress. He was not born in the USA. He came from an Aristocatic family. He was not known as an actor but did work in films. He worked for Paramount and then Fox. He was known as a ladies man, seen with many of the most glamourous actresses. He was engaged to an A list actress but she broke it off to marry someone else. This was after the couple the question is about divorced. Wife and Husband,, name some of the wife's films and some of the films the husband worked on ( extra for the actress that broke off their engagement to marry someone else) ????????
  18. Fausterlitz, A Letter To Three Wives Is correct. Please wait for a response from the poster even though you're sure of the answer. That's the way this thread has always been played. Some of the threads here need to have a yay or nay from the poster who posted the question before thre next question can be posted. Thanks and welcome to the bds
  19. In another scene, a different family that's mentioned above invites a couple over for dinner. The invited guest breaks a record that's playing on a phonograph that the host received as a special birthday gift.
  20. How did you request the movies? Please let us know since so many posters have asked how to go about requesting films. ? Thanks
  21. Again, I agree. that was a great interview with Russ Tamblyn. what an interesting character he is and he's lead a very interesting life.
  22. I agree, finished watching Sunday Morning a few minutes ago. Great interview Ben did with Jon Voight. No matter what Voight's politics and beliefs are, he's a great actor. Love watching CBS Sunday Morning,, been watching for decades, Miss Charles Kuralt's On the Road, however, Jane Pauley does an excellent job as the anchor of the show. At any rate, great show this morning as usual.
  23. I have on more than one occassion explained to David how to Google information and use IMDB as a resource. Since he can't or won't use those as resources what else can we do except answer his questions. It's unfortunate that he doesn't make use of those resources since he would probably find all the information interesting and rewarding on those sites. David is a nice poster and we'd all like to help him
  24. Sounds like Stephan Crane and Lana Turner ?? He was an actor appearing in just a few films before he opened the Luau and Kon Tiki Restaurants in the Sheraton Hotels in the USA and Canada. The restaurants had a Polynesian decor that he designed. He also designed the mugs, s&p shakers and the sugar bowls for the restaurants. Lana was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Imitation of Life. Other films we love, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Bad and The Beautiful, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Ziegfeld Girl, Johnny Eager, Week-End at the Waldorf, Portrait In Black, Peyton Place and one of my favorites Green Dolphin Street. Too many more to mention. Lana also appeared on tv with a lead role in Falcon Crest. Stephen Crane and Lana's daughter was Cheryl Crane, Cheryl killed Johnny Stompanato, one of Lana's lovers. Her defense was that she was protecting Lana because Stompanato was beating Lana. Cheryl was found not guilty, the jury ruled it as justifable homicide. ????????
