  1. Paul Lynde is correct. When giving clues we don't have to throw in the kitchen sink all at once LOL. his own show that only lasted 1 season was the next clue, but it certainly was not his greatest success nor something we think of when thinking of him. At any rate, Bye Bye Birdie was the role he recreated for the film and the 2 tv shows he was especially known for were Hollywood Squares and Bewitched and I agree, he stole the scene in Send Me No Flowers. Excellent Shutoo, your turn to post one
  2. It Never Rains But When It Pours - Judy Garland - Love Finds Andy Hardy another song sung by a character in their teens
  3. He passed away when he was in his 50's
  4. The 2 films were released 18 years apart
  5. Alexander's Ragtime Band - Ethel Marman, Dan Dailey, Mitzi Gaynor, Donald O'Connor, Johnnie Ray- There's No Business Like Show Business Kim Novak performs a song in a movie
  6. She won her Golden Globe for a musical she was in.
  7. He recreated his Broadway role in a film.
  8. Thanks Princess. It was a difficult question until I thought about a British actor in a support role in a film that's considered a Hitchcock masterpiece, then Elster's character popped into my head. next Not sure if this was a coincidence or planned by Hitchcock. An actor who had the lead roles in Hitchcock films plays a character that is first introduced in the first Hitch film he was in, in the same setting as the last film he made for Hitchcock in that same setting. The 2 films and the actor and the setting ????
  9. Yellow Rose of Texas - sung and music used a few times in Giant song in a movie with a female name in the title you like
  10. Tom Helmore? He was in The Ring, Secret Agent and the Hitchcock masterpiece he was in would be Vertigo. He was Elster in Vertigo. He was in The Tender Trap a Charles Walters Film, Designing Woman a Vincente Minnelli film and Advise and Consent a Preminger film. He was in a couple of episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents ?????????????
  11. He had a nickname because of his reputation with the ladies
  12. Liza performed by Larry Parks ( Jolson sang) and Evelyn Keyes dancing in The Jolson Story ( love this song) and I think Judy named Liza because of that beautiful song, Kahn co-wrote it with George and Ira Gershwin might as well stick to a Gus Kahn song in a movie
  13. We never referred to Arthur Ave as Little Italy. I did eat in a couple of restaurants on Arthur Ave many years ago. Thanks for the Bronx tour Barb. I grew up near Van Cortlandt Park. I lived about 2 miles away from Jerome Ave. Entrance to the park was Gun Hill Rd ( my neighborhood) and Jerome Ave. There is a website called Forgotten NY that has photos and detailed descriptions of my neighborhood in the Bronx so many years ago and a complete tour of Gun Hill Rd. Woodlawn Cemetary was in my neighborhood and I never knew while growing up near there ( it ended at the end of my street) how many famous people were buried there. Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin, Herman Melville, George M. Cohan, Damon Runyon, Max Roach, Dorothy Parker, Bat Masterson and many more !!!!!!! You, Swithin and I were lucky to have grown up in the Bronx. We 3 probably passed each other in an aisle in Alexander's or sat near each other watching a great movie at the Loew's Paradise
  14. Thanks Miles next He was a stage, screen and tv actor. In films he was a supporting actor. He appeared on many tv shows. There were 2 tv shows he was most famous for. Actor , the 2 tv shows he's most known for and name a couple of the hit movies he had supporting roles in ?????

  16. Sad about Chick Corea, loved his music. When my husband and I were first married in the 1970's we use to play backgammon, drink wine and listen to Chick Corea. 18. Thanks Princess next He was not born in the USA. He was an Oscar and Tony winner. a star in many films and the stage. She was not born in the USA. She was a beautiful actress and a Golden Globe winner. This was her only marriage, he had been married before and after their marriage. They appeared in some films together. Couple and name at least 1 film they were in together and films each were famous for ?????
  19. Some I recognize some are guesses 2. Lisa Loring - Wednesday on Addams Family tv show 3. Cyd Charisse 4. Angie Dickinson 6. Betty Hutton 9. Dorothy Lamour 10. Betty Grable 11. Jeannette MacDonald 12. Looks like a young Lana Turner
  20. Miles is correct. Bruce Dern is the one I was thinking about. He plays that very important role in Marnie as the sailor that Marnie kills and has the male lead in Family Plot. Leo did not appear in any of the Hitchcock tv shows. Edmund and Bruce did. My next clue was going to be that the actor was born in the USA, That would have ruled out Edmund and Leo. Good work Miles for thinking of Bruce Dern. Princess it's still your thread
  21. Anna Lee comes mind, the soap opera would be General Hospital. One of her husbands was director Robert Stevenson ?? Robert Stevenson directed The Man Who Changed His Mind with Anna Lee and Boris Karloff . Stevenson also co-directed Anna Lee in the 1930's version of King Solomon's Mines A few of Anna Lee's films were Bedlam, How Green Was My Valley, Fort Apache, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Even as an older woman Anna Lee had a beautiful face. I watched General Hospital off and on when she was in the cast. Robert Stevenson directed and wrote the screenplay for the Orson Welles version of Jane Eyre, he directed Old Yeller, he was nominated for the Oscar for Mary Poppins, he also directed The Shaggy DA, The Love Bug, The Absent Minded Professor, many Disney films He also directed noirs, Forbidden Past, The Woman on Pier 13, Las Vegas Story., Macao, so many different genres ???????,
  22. Princess, I'm going to give this one to you since it's true about Edmund Gwenn, however, I was thinking of another actor and 2 films. My next clue would have ruled him out but with the info in the first clue, he fits too. Good work your thread,
