    George Brent and

    Ann Sheridan

" Now, Voyager " is my favorite film for him.

" I Was A Male War Bride" is my favorite film for her.

George Brent and Ann Sheridan are the couple BUT George was NOT in Now Voyager. George and Bette appeared in many movies together but not Now Voyager. I Was A Male War Bride is also my favorite of Ann Sheridan's films. Pick another George film. Your thread

This is true, however Leslie Caron is billed second for "An American In Paris".

    Lori

Lori I don't get your point here. Why would Leslie be billed above Gene. Gene was the star of the film just as Doris was the star of Romance on the High Seas. Just doesn't equate. james stated it was unusual so why the however?

At any rate, Doris yes was an unknown to films but she was not an unknown as far as a singer goes. She was already singing with the Les Brown Band for a couple of years, she was a singer on Bob Hope's Radio Show and she already had a huge hit with the song Sentimental Journey.

I watched "The Clock" this afternoon. Not much of a plot IMO. An Army guy on a 2 day leave is visiting NY. He meets a nice girl, by tripping her. She shows him around the city. The next day they marry. Then they're at the station saying good bye. I thought maybe Alice would go back to her apartment & then you'd see a message on the bottom of the screen with something like however many weeks or months later, Joe would be discharged & you'd see them some place, or Alice getting a letter that Joe was killed. It just wasn't much of an ending. And I'm surprised Judy Garland didn't sing in the movie. I haven't yet seen a Judy Garland movie without her singing at least one song until now.

The Clock imo is a very good film. It's sweet and touching . I think you need to rewatch The Clock. It''s a lovely war time romance. btw, Judy in her heart wrenching Oscar nominated role for Best Supporting Actress did not sing in Judgement at Nuremburg.

  4. Miles, I hate to write this but this is pretty pathetic. Any classic film fan should know the answer to this. I'll chalk this up to it being the holiday, so some aren't playing. If there's no answer soon I'll answer so we can open up the thread to play.

  5. Thanks Princess and Happy Holidays  and Happy New Year to you, too

Although this husband had more than 1 wife who was an actress, the question will only require naming one. of them.

He had a lengthy career that began in the 1920's, his last film in the 1970's. His heyday though was the 1930's and 1940's as a leading man in most of his films. He did appear in 6 films in the 1950's but was basically retired by the 1960's although there were some tv appearances.

The wife, a beauty contest winner, was a hard working, well liked actress who was equally adept in dramas, comedies, noirs.  She was in a well loved holiday classic film that's been shown on TCM. TCM classic film lovers know both this husband and wife, their films are shown often.

Husband and wife and name some films for him and for her ????????

Just a  guess because because it had such beautiful Technicolor scenery in autumn--

    The Trouble with Harry.

Yes, of the 7 collaborations with Bernard Herrmann, his score for The Trouble With Harry was Hitchcock's favorite. Thought that was interesting. I knew that last clue would get an answer. Good work Princess, your thread.

Everyone on the website has seen this couple in films, which are iconic Classics of the 1940s and the 1950s.

The couple met at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where they both studied acting.

Their careers led them to Hollywood where they both obtained contracts  with two different major studios.

The stress of their successful careers ended their marriage, but both remarried individuals who were well- connected in the Hollywood hierarchy on the other side of the camera.

When you identify this famous acting couple, also give us one film for each of them and the names of their subsequent spouses, who were well- connected within the motion picture industry.

Jennifer Jones and Robert Walker ?? Jennifer won her Oscar for Song of Bernadette, my favorite  of her films though is  Portrait of Jennie. Robert Walker was psycho killer Bruno in Hitch's Strangers On a Train. Jennifer and Robert were both in Since You Went Away. Jennifer married David O. Selznick and Robert married Barara Ford who was an editor and John Ford's daughter. Barbara Ford was an assitant editor on many of John Ford's films, The Quiet Man, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, Red River, Rio Grande. After Robert and Jennifer divorced he married Barbara Ford, that also ended in divorce. ????????

  8. Swithin, Miles and I have been mentioning this for quite awhile, but we're ignored, the threads just keeping piling up, a few here just keep adding new ones and don't care about the threads that are now lost. I found this popular thread pushed to page 3 the other day, because of all these threads. So there, now I vented, you are not the only one who feels like this.

Here's a pastime I don't like  -  Run, Run, Run - Jack Carson - Romance On The High Seas

A Stevie Wonder song of his used in a movie or one he sings in a movie

I always like watching films that Richard Carlson is in.  Not real flashy, but just a steady-as-he-goes performer.  His big screen debut came in 1938 in "The Young In Heart" where he was Janet Gaynor's on-again-off again love interest.  He was also in "The Little Foxes" and got to slap around Dan Duryea near the end of the picture.

Yes and years ago I use to get Richard Carlson and Hugh Marlowe mixed up. I think they looked quite a bit alike.
